Help! Baby boy arrived early - no name.

Surname rhymes with box - assume what you will😅Thought we had plenty of time to think / decide but baby decided otherwise. We’d like to have a name before we start introducing him to wider family and friends.

Names we like but can’t use for various reasons:

Joel
Ethan
Elijah
Caleb
Levi

Current list:

Jude
Francis
Gabriel
Jonah
Samuel

Would prefer a less popular but still ‘heard of’ name but it’s not a dealbreaker. Any thoughts or new suggestions please?

I think Gabriel is lovely. If you are avoiding Samuel because of Sam Fox, I think the same logic applies to avoiding Jonah because of Jo Cox (depending on what your actual name is of course).

If your actual name is Cox I don’t like the -Cis Cox at the end of Francis.

Team Gabriel. And choose another shortening if you want. Bree, Abe.

I’m leaning towards Gabriel I think, I prefer the longer first name with the short surname but DH doesn’t like Gabe as a nn. Our other child’s name doesn’t get shortened so I don’t think it’ll be an issue unless he chooses to shorten it himself when he’s older, obviously that’ll be up to him!

Naming someone for the rest of their life is too much pressure!

Sorry everyone, we ended up back in hospital with suspected sepsis so I completely forgot about this thread! Baby is absolutely fine now thankfully, we have given ourselves until tonight to make a decision.

We've narrowed it down to Gabriel, Francis and Jude, although a lot of the suggested names were on the list at some point too so thank you!

I’m sure anyone who knows me can guess already from the posts so here’s a photo of my special boy!

Jonah is a jinx around here. I wouldn't use that.
