Naming a genderless Miscarriaged baby

Hi sorry this is heavy.
I was pregnant with twins nearly 3 years ago.
I lost baby B early into the pregnancy.
We don't know the gender.
I can't get passed it and I feel like I need to name the baby I lost.
My husband said he doesn't want just any name. It needs to mean something. But also be unisex.
I've tried Google but I just can't find anything.
I have already suggested :
Baby B
Baby Wood (last name)
Baby dot
Sydney
Phoenix
But my husband don't think these names are personal enough.
The child we have has a very sentimental, meaningful name and he things the twin deserves the same. Which I agree. I'm just finding it hard when we didn't know the gender, so to try and find a name that means just as much for us is hard.
Can anyone help.
I've looked into "wings" names, thinking I could find a name that represents wings but none of them stood out to us.
Sorry if this post is very to the point, and seems very unemotional. I just find it easier to talk about this way.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Could you give the baby a name of a place that means something to you both?

Beachs · 14/05/2024 20:45

So sorry for your loss not that you will ever get over it but I’d definitely recommend counselling to help you with your grief.

How about Seren is Welsh for star and can be used for both boys and girls despite being primarily used for girls. Your baby is a star looking down on your lovely family.

xx

@Laura199214 it's a beautiful name. ❤️

I lost a baby at about 8 weeks. Both my partner and I had imagined that she was a girl (as we had imagined our future together with a baby girl) so we named her Flo, which is the name she would have had if she had lived. I have no idea if the baby I was carrying was a boy or girl, but it doesn't feel wrong to have assumed her sex. I think it helped us to grieve the loss of the future that we thought we would have, which was having a baby girl together.

Edited to add I'm so sorry for your loss.

Edited

I miscarried at 16 weeks and had dreamed she was a girl. Like you it didn't feel wrong to attribute a gender. I called her Danny, short for Danielle, but I didn't tell my DH.

OP my condolences for your loss 💐

Nova is an excellent name.

I'm so sorry for your loss. What about Nova?

a transient astronomical event that causes the sudden appearance of a bright, apparently "new" star (hence the name "nova", Latin for "new") that slowly fades over weeks or months.

I love that.
I love everyone else's suggestions too but a lot of them we wouldn't have been able to use, e.g Skye. That was my husbands dogs name 😂
But I've just brung up nova to him and straight away he knew the meaning behind it.
Thank you do much. I think nova is what we will mame them, it's beautiful with such a touching and meaningful meaning behind it.
Thank you x

So sorry for your loss OP but this seems like such a good step towards taking closure and healing from your grief.
Do you want to honour the other twins name at all maybe, you could have starting with the same letter? Any late family members you want to honour?

my suggestions-
River
Cove
Ocean
Beau- means loved
Soleil (pronounced So-lay), and means sunshine
Blue- often connoted with peace and tranquility
Eden maybe if you’re religious
Sonny/Sunny
Noah- meaning rest

scrivette · 14/05/2024 18:33

Anahera means angel in Māori
Cassiel is the name of an angel, it's is a boys name but also works for a girl.
Mirren - beloved

caringcarer · 14/05/2024 18:26

😇 Angel.

Moreteaandchocolate · 14/05/2024 18:23

Love the ideas of Angel, Skye, Robin or Eden

BreakfastClub80 · 14/05/2024 18:22

Sorry for your loss @Laura199214 . If none of the previous suggestions seem right, I think you need to think back to how you chose your DC’s name. Why is that sentimental? (You don’t need to answer here). Is there another name you might have used but was too popular/unusual, and if so would that work?

RosieMilkJug · 14/05/2024 17:55

Jem?

Anothernameonthewall · 14/05/2024 17:53

Sky. I've heard boys and girls with the name.

Sometimes you can't see the sky from the woods, but you know it's up there above you.. that's the thought your loss and surname brought me anyway.

Houseplanter · 14/05/2024 17:52

Robin would be my choice.

A lovely name, also with traditional associations with grief.

Mumofgirls2017 · 14/05/2024 17:49

So sorry for your loss. I love Phoenix. Unisex name ideas…

river
robin
rowan
marlow
remy
oakley
teddy
kit
ray
quinn
eden
pip
bobbi
sunny
sky

or is there a meaningful surname-name? Place name? Nature name even if unusual?

Boxerdor · 14/05/2024 17:47

I also like Skye

the welsh name Deryn from the word Aderyn means bird and although mainly used for girls could also be unisex I think. Apparently, in Welsh and Celtic mythology, birds often symbolize the flight of spirits to the other side

on the bird theme- robin/Robyn?

EmiliaGeorge · 14/05/2024 17:36

So sorry to hear you have been through that.

I love the name Shiloh; it’s gender neutral and it means tranquil, or I saw elsewhere “the peaceful one” which I think is a very fitting name 🤍

LizardOfOz · 14/05/2024 15:02

Skye is what I was thinking too

Apollo365 · 14/05/2024 15:02

Allofusstrangers · 14/05/2024 14:52

I'm sorry for your loss. What about Eden? It's unisex and could conjure up a lovely mental image of your baby in a beautiful garden.
I think Angel could be unisex too.

Lovely unisex name with a lovely meaning ❤️
so sorry for your loss OP xx

ScribblingPixie · 14/05/2024 15:00

Alis? That is Latin for wings.

GuppytheCat · 14/05/2024 14:59

Rowan, Skye or Eden would be perfect

MajorMischa · 14/05/2024 14:56

I was going to say use a bird name, like Robin. But actually saw pp's suggestion of Skye upthread. Skye's exact meaning is not known for definite but it's likely to be from 'sgiath' which is Gaelic for wing. So 'the winged isle' in reference to the shape. So Skye could work for the wings connection too.

Comedycook · 14/05/2024 14:56

If you take all of your initials, ie dh, your and DC...do they spell anything that sounds right?

DietCokeAddict19 · 14/05/2024 14:53
