Nay

RogueFemale · 11/05/2024 17:35

Nope.

LauderSyme · 11/05/2024 17:35

I am really surprised by the replies on this thread as I like Mason and it doesn't have negative connotations for me.

NetMum2 · 11/05/2024 17:32

How about Max? Or Matthew?

princessrapunzel · 11/05/2024 14:32

I have a Mason so clearly i love it. Theres a few threads on here with opinions on this name and MN seems to hate it.
We just felt its a bit different but not to out there and it was the only name me and DH could agree on! He loves it and theres only one other Mason in his school.

Els1e · 11/05/2024 14:01

Going against the grain here but I like it. I know one Mason and he’s a lovely lad.

PossumintheHouse · 11/05/2024 14:00

Conjures up images of a big, beefy bloke with a chip on his shoulder.

NoSnowdrop · 11/05/2024 14:00

No

Berlinlover · 11/05/2024 14:00

It’s a Kardashian name so that’s a no from me.

MolkosTeenageAngst · 11/05/2024 13:58

No, I agree with those saying it makes them think of a naughty boy or a bully.

Pocketfullofdogtreats · 11/05/2024 13:57

It's a no from me. I don't like surnames as first names, but I suspect an awful lot of "normal" names started out that way - Martin, Duncan, Douglas, Graham, etc.

But please tell me it's not for a girl - just no.

KarenSmithsWeatherBoobs · 11/05/2024 13:50

DS has gone through school with a Mason. He's not a bad lad, so have to disagree with the naughty boy vibe.

It was the Sebastians and Harrys that have been little shites on his school journey.

gerispringer · 11/05/2024 13:45

No from me - the bully in Coronation Street is Mason

AGodawfulsmallaffair · 11/05/2024 13:43

No…

80smercedes · 11/05/2024 13:41

My FIL is Mason, and it has been passed down to my DH and DS as a middle name. In their family it is the anglicised version of the Russian name Masonovich, my FIL's DF who moved to the UK shortly before WW2. He shortened his given name to Mason and took his wife's surname in an effort to integrate in the UK. I also disagree with the negative connotations mentioned up thread as I work in a school and have only encountered lovely Masons Smile

BananaLambo · 11/05/2024 13:34

Masons and Conors are the cheeky tykes of this world 😊

RuthW · 11/05/2024 13:32

Absolutely not.

BoleynMemories13 · 11/05/2024 13:25

Really downmarket around me I'm afraid. The classic 'naughty boy's name.

cherryassam · 11/05/2024 12:51

It was bugging me who the famous Mason I didn’t like was - DH reminded me it’s the controversial footballer

Toddlerteaplease · 11/05/2024 12:48

No. I don't like any surnames as first names.

whosthefoolnow · 11/05/2024 12:44

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 11/05/2024 12:01

Well you obviously like it so yeh. However it just conjures up a naughty child with parents who let him do what he want. That’s one persons perception though.

😂 there's a mason in my dd class and he's everything you've just said.

SpeakinginTongues · 11/05/2024 12:43

No.

Moreteaandchocolate · 11/05/2024 12:42

Not keen sorry

FayCarew · 11/05/2024 12:21

Nice surname. Does it shorten to May or Mase? It's better than Grayson.
Seems to tie in with the May, Mae, Mabel, Maeve trend.

IsadoraQuagmire · 11/05/2024 12:18

It makes me think of Mason in Wizards of Waverly Place (played by Gregg Sulkin) I hated him.
Although, apart from that, I think it's rather nice.
