Name to go with surname?

Just found out we are having a baby boy in October and we are struggling for a name!! Our main issue is getting something to match our surname - Ives.

I don’t want anything really popular so top 20 are off the cards really, and I feel like one syllable or S ending names don’t work with the last name.

Any ideas would be massively appreciated!

Robbin' knives?
I feel a bit of a party pooper but I'm sure something will go nicely.

What names do you like @SurnameStruggles .

I hadn’t even heard that until you mentioned it @DuchessOfSausage and now it’s all I can hear with the -n names… ignore my suggestion of Robin 😅

DuchessOfSausage · 07/05/2024 19:45

-n Ives sounds like Knives.

It's a nice surname.
I'd avoid names ending in -er, and ones ending in an -a sound.
Noah Ives might sound like No Arrives, Cooper Ives like Coop Arrives.
George Ives sounds like Jaw Jives etc. Jude Ives like Ju Dives etc.

Sebastian would work.

Definitely not Saint! 😂 Sorry only joking 🙃 I wouldn't have a name starting with P either as his initials will be Pi

Ivan! 😁 Great name btw, we're a single syllable/vowel surname family too and had a similar dilemma
