Originally going to be called Jim after my granddad, but we've found out we're having a girl. Would this work?

Oh dear.

Personally, I'd follow 33rd US President Harry S. Truman just give the daughter the middle name "J."

The S in Harry S Truman does not stand for anything - rather it honours both his grandfathers - Soloman Young and (Andersen) Shipp Truman.

Grandfather honoured. Grandfather mentioned every time people ask what the J stands for.

Parents free to think of their own name for their daughter.

I prefer Jimothy. Or Jimon. Or at a push Jim-Jams.

Give it a rest 😆 might as well go for Jamòn 😆

Jim is a simply awful name to begin with.

Psipsinas · 30/04/2024 18:37

Sauvblanctime · 30/04/2024 18:29

AtomHeartMotherOfGod · 30/04/2024 18:19

When I saw this, I thought 'Is this a post about an app, or a name?'

Obviously you can't but I presume you posted for a laugh...

Jemima? Jamie? Congratulations 😁

mamaandbabas · 30/04/2024 18:17

The name sounds like a children's entertainer. Jimberley the clown 🤡 😂 😂

Missingpop · 30/04/2024 18:16

Someone put name it after Jim’s missus but she left him for a taxi driver😂😂😂😂😂 it has to be a piss take

CountingCrones · 30/04/2024 18:12

@Missingpop - oh god yes, it’s absolutely a 6 year old’s choice for a pet.

DD’s classmate had his name drawn from the hat to name one of the class’s newly hatched chicks. He went for Penciletta.

Missingpop · 30/04/2024 18:10

Don’t be so cruel this poor kid has to grow up go through school & eventually find a job it will get the 💩 ripped out of it with names like that they sound names more suited for a goat😂😂😂

CountingCrones · 30/04/2024 18:09

I once knew a Ralary because she was named for her parents, Ralph and Mary.

I don’t think she ever forgave them.

I wish little Jimberley a long and happy life. Ideally with a little sister called Danessa or Bennifer.

Missingpop · 30/04/2024 18:07

neverknowinglyunreasonable · 29/04/2024 11:16

If this is an honest question I feel I must give an honest response. I find the name Jimberly hilarious and cannot stop laughing.

I was roaring laughing it’s got to be a joke 😂😂😂

Missingpop · 30/04/2024 18:06

No! No! No! You can’t call a kid fucking Jimberly it’s taken half an hour to write this cause I was laughing so much😂😂😂😂😂 it’d be ok if you were 6 & naming a rabbit but a child, Christ alive grow up the poor kid will be bullied mercilessly & you know it in your heart of hearts; save the name Jim for the next baby & hope it’s a boy 😂😂😂

pebbles8811 · 30/04/2024 17:59

@Netruscan my daughters middle name is Jaymes names after my grandpa who was James but called Jim also Ryan Reynolds daughter is called James 🤷🏻‍♀️ just a suggestion you could call her James instead of jimberly

cremebrulait · 30/04/2024 17:55

I thought you were going to mock someone who accidentally typed there own name as Jimberly given the close proximity of j and k.

This is a horrible idea.

CadyEastman · 30/04/2024 17:26

I knew a Benjeevan (the van part is pronounced like ‘one’ but with a v at the beginning). The father wanted Benyameen, the mother wanted Jeevan, so they went with Benjeevan

The poor, poor sod!

Have we had Jimodium yet? Hope I've not bought this thread to a halt

Is that an anti diahorrea medicine?

Nanny0gg · 30/04/2024 16:43

Well, whether you like it or not, if you use it, there will be lots of conversations about it in the staff room

And the child will spend her life spelling it out

Benthany · 30/04/2024 15:58

Whenever I hear of a newborn with an unusual name. I always think do they not imagine little Bambi as an adult in a professional job?

LikeTalkingToLassie · 30/04/2024 14:01

MikeRafone · 29/04/2024 21:59

Jemma, Jacinda, Jemima, Jamelia are all females versions of James

@MikeRafone , Jemma, Jacinda, Jemima, Jamelia are all females versions of James None of those are female versions of James.
Jemima is a biblical name not associated with James.
Jemma is a short form of Jemima
Jacinda is from hyacinth
Jamelia is probably from Jamil, which is Arabic
James is from Jacob

Oops, clear quote not pressed

Not quite as bad but I went to school with a boy called Davin - his mother wanted David and his father wanted Gavin and Davin is what they compromised on. Seems like a perfectly acceptable name now in the grand scheme of things.
