Hi there,

expecting our first baby in a few months. We don’t know the gender.

the leading boy’s name is of irish origin.

for girls, we’ve a few options, the two front runners are Lucia (Loo-see-ah) or Clodagh (Clo-da - Irish origin).

middle name is likely to be Anne.

very undecided on which to go for- all advice welcomed!

Lucia

A vote for Lucia from me. Have you considered Claudia?

Clodagh - love this name!

I'm not mad on Lucia

KirstenBlest · 25/04/2024 19:48

Both are nice but I'd pick Clodagh on the grounds of it not having multiple pronunciations.

Is Lucia Lucy-ah, Lu-cee-ah, Lootch-ee-a, Loosha, Luth-ee-a? Lucy is much less complicated and also pretty.

I have a Clodagh!
We always get soooo many comments on it being a lovely name and she loves her name. So for obvious reasons it's my choice Smile

Lucia more likely to be spelt correctly by others. Would be my choice.

I love Lucia (with your chosen pronunciation). I haven’t come across anyone called Clodagh before but I like it a lot, as long as you don’t mind needing to spell it for people.

UnimaginableWindBird · 25/04/2024 16:48

I like them both, but I prefer the pronunciation of Lucia with a ch, so I'd recommend Clodagh, which was on my baby name shortlist, but was vetoed by DH.

Totally subjective and they're both very nice but I love Clodagh, it's a gorgeous name.
