Twin girl names, to go with Theo & Amelia

Hello,

We're expecting twin girls soon, and we're finding it so tough to find names we love! As they are identical, we don't want matching names.

Our 2 older children are called Theo (Theodore) and Mimi (Amelia), we potentially want something slightly less mainstream this time. Our surname is quite botanical, so that sort of rules out flower names etc.

Names we like (but not quite set on) include:
Lyra
Lara
Florence
Delphi (is that more of a nickname?)
Reeva (although that reminds me of Oscar Pistorius, so I think that rules it out!)
Eliza
Riley (maybe a bit American)
Tabitha (I love, husband hates)
Mathilda (as above!)

I'd love to hear any new ideas or suggestions!! xx

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Theodore, Amelia, Lara and Florence

From your list, I think Lara and Florence go very well together and with your older children’s names too. Both two syllables. I think Charlotte and Florence also work, though I know you didn’t want something quite as popular…

Lyra - not keen on sound
Lara - lovely name
Florence - lovely name
Delphi - doesn’t fit other names
Reeva - sad association
Eliza - lovely name
Riley - doesn’t fit other names
Tabitha - ok
Mathilda - or Matilda? It’s frustrating having to spell names out all the time

If I had older children called Theo and Amelia, I would call twin girls Constance and Josephine.

Hi everyone, twins are due any day and we're still SO stuck! They may well need to go into special care, so we really want them to have names and not ponder it for 5 days like we did with our other 2 children!!

Ones currently under consideration:

  • Octavia & Alana
  • Mollie & Serena (I say under consideration, I like Serena a lot, husband not keen)
  • Margot & Eliza
  • Alexandra (Lexie) & Mollie

I'd LOVE any more suggestions 😅

Ideally I'd like the names not to end in the same sound, i.e. OctaviA & AlanA... makes it a bit of a mouthful, especially as our surname ends in 'er' but sounds like 'a' if that makes sense.

I like Margot and Eliza.

Have you considered:

  • Constance (Connie)
  • Larissa
  • Maeve
  • Miranda
  • Sophie
  • Saskia

Margot and Saskia go quite nicely, as do Sophie and Miranda.

mathanxiety · 21/05/2024 17:32

I think names that end in consonants might work best.

Keeping the T and A initial pattern:
Tamsin and Artemis
Tess and Alice

Other initials:
Elspeth and Juliet
Beatrix and Celestine
Eleanor and Madeleine
Evelyn and Cecily
Sylvie and Jessamine
Katherine and Edith
