Twin girl names, to go with Theo & Amelia

Hello,

We're expecting twin girls soon, and we're finding it so tough to find names we love! As they are identical, we don't want matching names.

Our 2 older children are called Theo (Theodore) and Mimi (Amelia), we potentially want something slightly less mainstream this time. Our surname is quite botanical, so that sort of rules out flower names etc.

Names we like (but not quite set on) include:
Lyra
Lara
Florence
Delphi (is that more of a nickname?)
Reeva (although that reminds me of Oscar Pistorius, so I think that rules it out!)
Eliza
Riley (maybe a bit American)
Tabitha (I love, husband hates)
Mathilda (as above!)

I'd love to hear any new ideas or suggestions!! xx

I LOVE Molly.

I don't associate it with drugs at all.

It's such a solid, lovely name

Love it too! Can’t get DH over the line on it 🙉

We think it’s looking like Lara & Eliza…not too many L’s and A’s?! xxx

What do we think of Mollie / Molly?

I think it's pretty, but would you think of a drug association...

I have a Mollie. I'm over 20 years we e never had an issue with any drug reference, or any real issues on any other issue.
She went through a stage of playing some song referencing the drug Molly for a short time in her teens herself though 🤷‍♀️
Despite it being a popular name we don't actually know any others, and she was only at school with one other, and only for a year.

Hi everyone, twins are due any day and we're still SO stuck! They may well need to go into special care, so we really want them to have names and not ponder it for 5 days like we did with our other 2 children!!

Ones currently under consideration:

  • Octavia & Alana
  • Mollie & Serena (I say under consideration, I like Serena a lot, husband not keen)
  • Margot & Eliza
  • Alexandra (Lexie) & Mollie

I'd LOVE any more suggestions 😅

Ideally I'd like the names not to end in the same sound, i.e. OctaviA & AlanA... makes it a bit of a mouthful, especially as our surname ends in 'er' but sounds like 'a' if that makes sense.

Margot and Eliza are my favourites by far.

Classic but not too popular.

The babies are here and somehow we’ve gotten “twin 1” and “Eliza”.

twin 1 desperately needs a name poor thing 😆

Yup I think these 2 options are my favourite too! He’s still not keen 🫠

Margot, Serena, Eliza

My thoughts though are that these names don't easily shorten unlike your other two children.

Unless you like ‘Marg’ 🤔

Dustyblue · 23/05/2024 07:13

God what a dilemma!!

I'll go Margot and Eliza.

Delphi I'd assume was short for Delphine.

Margot & Henrietta (Hetty)
Margot & Persephone (Seffi)

This is hard! Best of luck with everything OP.

LeonoraFlorence · 23/05/2024 06:51

I like Arabella, Florence & Beatrice to go with your names. Bella, Florrie/Floss & Bea. Congratulations!

ButtonMoonBlanketSky · 23/05/2024 06:44

twinnies1987 · 23/05/2024 04:06

I like these too! I guess nn could be Florrie (not that keen on Flo!)

Floss is a sweet nickname for Florence. Florence and Eliza are lovely ❤
