We are not French.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

definitely not too French. Love them together!

William and Katherine aren't French (to my knowledge!) and they have a Louis. They are lovely names, if you like them go for it. The only think I ever think about using names when you don't have a direct link to their origin is just to ensure that your children know what their names mean.

Margaux is a wine from Bordeaux. Margot is a girl's name.

Yes it is but it is also the most usual spelling of the girls name in France!
MN frenchies, please back me up

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 21/04/2024 19:35

I think they are fine

AndBeyond · 21/04/2024 18:23

Totally fine

FayCarew · 21/04/2024 18:20

Nope, both very popular normal names in the UK. It's not like Jean-Baptiste and Françoise.

This is pretty much what I was going to say too!

I think you're fine OP. Both have French origins but are used so widely here now that very few people will pick up on it or think anything of it. Even if people did pick up on it it's not a bad thing. They're not so obviously French that they're unusable together for a non-French family.

In France it is more usually spelt Margaux so I think you’re good.

I think they sound lovely together :)

I like both these names and would go for it if I was you. My sister has a French name and I have a name which is used in both countries, but spelt differently. My parents chose the English spelling and apparently some people thought it would be better if they had used the French spelling - so both names were French. Basically, you can’t win either way!
