I am really struggling with baby girl names. Our boy name is Hudson and he would be named after someone whereas a girl wouldn't.
I like:
Milah- our friends used it 😢
Maela
Mylah
Lilah
Autumn

Hubby doesn't like any. Please suggest other slight unique names I might be able to get him to agree to ❤️

A girl called Adorabella is getting bullied the shit out of, and then getting a zero hours contract job in the adult entertainment industry. Absurd.

Ooops! I thought you posted this on my thread, as I am looking for baby names too + put down the ones I like on mine. It’s for someone else, my partner came up with Adorabella. The ones I like are: Emmeline, Neveah, Saskia, Ettie and Elinor for girls.

My partner decided on Adorabella, but nothing is set in stone we do change the names regularly. The names we do like, seem disliked by many so we are trying to find unique but likeable to avoid the bullying.
We both like Emmeline and Neveah as well, so we have added that to the list.

Thanks for your honest opinion.

I know of a Kyra (pronounced Ky-ra, not Keer-a as in Ciara/Kiera). Might be to your taste.

@ElvinBoys , Stevie and Billie have been used as girls names for a while and make me think of Stevie Nicks, Stevie Smith, Billie Holiday and Billie Piper.
Hudson makes me think of the butler in Upstairs Downstairs, Rock Hudson and River Hudson.

I think Hudson could be a unisex name I’d probably use that if you both liked and agreed on it :) my little girl is called Marley and would also have been Marley if she was a boy x

I totally agree. I love typical “boys” names for girls. My favourite is Stevie.

ElvinBoys · 22/04/2024 17:33

What’s wrong with Hudson for a girl? I like typical “boy” names for girls. I think Hudson sounds cool for a girl. I also like Billie & Stevie.

Unique names that I can guarantee noone else in her school year will have...

Chlamydia
Syphilis
Hepatitis
Herpes

Second these! Very unique!
better than some crazy names in the lists above that sound so trash!

SurreyisSunny · 22/04/2024 08:38

Whatever you choose make sure the spelling is the same as it sounds or she will be forever be correcting people (I’ve done this my whole life for my surname)

autumn is lovely but I wouldn’t use for a summer born baby

Milah and Mylah are the same so I wouldn’t use those

Going with your M and Ls
I love May.
Also Mabel
Lyra
Lilia

Squiggle13 · 21/04/2024 20:42

These were the names on our list if we had a girl, I wanted something a little unique but not crazy. My name was unique in the 80s but not out there, so I wanted similar.

Olive
Cecelia
Sloan
Aster
Briar
Persephone
Astrid
Stella
Imogen
Effie/Ethel
Noor/Nori
Vida
Alba

@littlecats In response to your comment on my post, I said in the post that my suggestions had some names with an a at the end...
It's literally right there if you'd actually read it properly. 🙄

These names are all really pretentious, I'm with your other half.

PopandFizz · 21/04/2024 12:43

Just so you know Lilah / Lyla are both SUPER popular names now. We know 3 and hear it at soft play etc all the time.

We also know 2 Autumn, 3 Summers (seen that's been recommended a lot).

Don't focus on finding a unique name because you're just going to be disappointed when it's not unique. Names are getting more obscure you're more likely to have her be the only one with a name you perceive to be common!

Also grandparent names are more common now too.

MerryChristmasToYou · 21/04/2024 12:40

@Emsbutterfly , Hudson means 'son of Hugh'. It's about as unisex as Harrison or Jackson.

@OpalK24 , If you like Hudson, how about Harriet, Harper, Manon or Alison?

villamariavintrapp · 21/04/2024 12:05

Hudson is not a unisex name, it's a boy's name, -son means 'son'.
