Thoughts on our boys names please

We have a short(ish) list of boy names and welcome both opinion and further ideas.

We adore but cannot use Laurence or Owen. We also like but cannot use Arthur, Matthew or Henry.

Ethan
Gabriel
Eric
George
Jonah
Zachary
Louis (pronounced lou-eee)

Ethan - generic, poor, mid 200o's
Gabriel- middle class, annoying parents
Eric- er no idea. only know men in their 60's
George- yawn
Jonah- mid Atlantic, parents think it sounds cool

Zachary - every one has been entitled
Louis - nicest but massively overdone..

I like Louis, not keen on the rest. I still associate George with old whiskery men even though I know it's popular again.

I wouldn't be worried about the Royal connection, by the time George is King, Louis will be Duke of Edinburgh (or sone other Dukedom....) rather than Prince Louis.

I have a Laurence / Laurie so feel that we have similar taste .
I personally love Gabriel and Louis .

Really? He gets teased for Eric?! Poor thing! It’s a family name on my partners side and I thought it was a great name!

I'm shocked by all the people liking Eric. I teach one and he is relentlessly taken the piss out of for the name... unsurprisingly I thought as it's horrible! But it's clearly due a resurgence and it's been widely well received here.

George and Louis. Gabriel is usually shortened to Gay here in Ireland so not that popular anymore.

I really love Eric and George!
Like Zachary.

Personally, I’m not keen on Ethan, Gabriel or Jonah (can’t see past the whale connection) and I don’t like Louis, although I’m definitely in the minority!

Ethan - like this, nice name
Gabriel - love Gabriel, really gorgeous name, but really dislike Gabe
Eric - its ok, a bit dated but coming back I think
George - nice, strong name, but quite popular
Jonah - ok but I do think whale/ bad luck, a bit wet maybe
Zachary - its ok, Zach is quite cool, feels a bit 90’s though
Louis - love this, gorgeous, cool sound, suits young and old.

Ethan - this seems to be quite popular. Most of the little Ethans I know are… let’s say, not the best behaved children.
Gabriel - nice but popular. I know quite a few little Gabriels.
Eric - cute. Probably a bit of a Marmite name.
George - classic, lovely.
Jonah - love it
Zachary - I’m not a fan but can’t put my finger on why.
Louis - popular. A bit ‘meh’.

It doesn’t help but Laurence, Matthew, Owen and Henry are all fab!
