Reuben. Robin. Ash. Owen. Ewan.

Rowan makes me think of sort of weird midsummer rituals and long haired hippy hash-smoking types - the Wickerman style.

So names like Willow, Hazel, May, Myrtle and Edward Woodward.

I know of a few boys and men called Rowan. I’ve never come across a female Rowan.

I agree that it’s a soft name, so I’d think of Noah, Sophie, Amelie.

Also, whenever I see names that begin with R, I do think of so many children (and some adults) who can’t roll their Rs. They would say ‘Wo-an’ .

I have a sister called Rowan, the other two are Robyn and Jessica. Totally outing myself, but I do love their names.

I also knew a Rowan at school and she had a brother called Pip. They were a bit hippy and very cool. 😎

My mum also was considering Peregrine, with Pippin or Pip as a shortened version. It reminds me of Peregrine Took in Lord of the Rings. I also love Merry as a name (short for Meriadoc in LOTR) and I know a little girl called Merry (Meredith, I think 🤔).

I was also considering Peregrine, but that was because of Scrubs and also Fireman Sam, which my toddler dd was obsessed with at the time of my ds pregnancy.

I know someone with a Rowan and a River. Two girls but I think both can work for boys as well. Lovely names.
