Annahlise - awful, my brain tries to correct it to annihilate
Annalese - makes me think of analgesic

Enko · 25/03/2024 00:02

As I grew up in Scandinavia I see Annelise or Annalisa. To me Anneliese is German. The lise/lisa ending Scandinavian

It's a pretty name.

GG1986 · 24/03/2024 21:57

My friend is called this and it is spelt Annalise

Mogdidabadthing2 · 24/03/2024 21:27

Annalese? That could work

MiltonNorthern · 24/03/2024 21:22

Theoldwoman · 24/03/2024 21:18

My friends DD is Annahlise.

That is heinous

Theoldwoman · 24/03/2024 21:18

My friends DD is Annahlise.

LockitDotit · 24/03/2024 19:34

It's interesting a lot of people are saying Anneliese/Annaliese etc.

When
1 - My phone tries to autocorrect these names
2 - Annalise is the most widely used spelling in the UK

Lots of names are spelt and pronounced differently internationally. We aren't European/German so why would we use that spelling/pronunciation when there is a more common UK variant? It's seems a little pretentious to me.

We want it to be Anna-lease pronunciation.

We are going with Annalise, which is conveniently the most common UK spelling and my phone doesn't want to autocorrect it!

Annelise
Or
Anneliese

With an e in the middle not an a

MiltonNorthern · 24/03/2024 19:25

It's annelise or anneliese. Not annalise and never analise!

Tallerandtall · 24/03/2024 19:24

@LockitDotit

avoid both or she will be bullied as anal.

choose Anna

AnnaMagnani · 24/03/2024 19:24

Neither is 'correct' but Analise is awful.

Bear in mind this is a very popular European name so Annelise, Anneliese, Annalisa (and more) can all be correct.

The -a (or -e) on the end is supposed to be pronounced but in the UK you will only get this by constant, repetitive reminders.

Also however you choose to spell it, the person you are talking to will spell it differently! And ask what she uses 'for short'. On the plus side it generates a lot of 'what a lovely name' comments.

Terriblemum24 · 24/03/2024 19:19

I love this name, I wanted Anneliese but husband couldn’t unlink it with some of the spelling and connotation suggested.

bonus of Anneliese is potential for Nel as a nn

KarstRegion · 24/03/2024 19:14

HuntingoftheSnark · 24/03/2024 17:44

I think Anneliese too.

This.

trevthecat · 24/03/2024 19:12

My name is very similar. For the love of God double N 🤣 I have to correct it, a lot!

DinnaeFashYersel · 24/03/2024 19:10

Annalise

Aydel · 24/03/2024 19:02

Annalies or Annaliese.

Analise looks like Anal-ise.

Shinyandnew1 · 24/03/2024 19:01

As a teacher, I’ve only ever taught girls with the Anneliese spelling.

FayCarew · 24/03/2024 18:51

I'd say Anneliese as Annuh-leezuh, and Annalise as Anna-lees.

nameXname · 24/03/2024 18:34

Surely it's 'Annelise'. Anne in the languages where a final 'e' is a 'schwa' or 'uh/eh' sound, plus Lise, ditto sound for the final 'e'.

irritationstation · 24/03/2024 17:56

@LockitDotit ok then definitely double N, Annalise.

I considered it for my baby girl !

We also liked Annalisa a lot.

We didn't use them but nice names !

LockitDotit · 24/03/2024 17:53

irritationstation · 24/03/2024 17:52

Why can't you just spell it the way it's supposed to be spelled ?

Annaliese.

I'm pretty sure Annalise is more used in the uk based on the naming stats. Also we don't like the way Annaliese looks and my phone try's to autocorrect it but doesn't Annalise!

StellaOlivetti · 24/03/2024 17:53

I would spell it Annaliese, but out of your options, definitely double N. It’s a beautiful name!

irritationstation · 24/03/2024 17:52

Why can't you just spell it the way it's supposed to be spelled ?

Annaliese.

FayCarew · 24/03/2024 17:49

Analise looks like 'make something anal' or a typo for analyse.
