Middle names not flowing

cantddiceenames · 21/03/2024 22:29

So the Anton is non-negotiable as is a family name. Can either go second or first but I would really like 2 middle names as my other children have 2 and also because I don’t really love Anton but am using it because it means a lot to my dad which is important to me. But I’d like a middle name I’ve also chosen. Do any of these sound okay? I don’t love any but can’t think of anything else 😭 surname is two syllables

Jude Anton Finch
Jude Theodore Anton
Jude Henry Anton
Jude Archie Anton
Jude Maxwell Anton
Jude Anton Max
Jude Anton George
Jude Otis Anton

Jude is not a fave with me though it sounds good with Anton and best followed by a one syllable third name...

Jude Anton Finch Surname
George Anton Jude Surname
Jude Anton Hugh Surname
Wilfred Jude Anton Surname - Wilf
Hugh Anton Fox Surname
Max Anton Jude Surname
Jude Anton Carl Surname

Why does someone always suggest a filler middle name on a 2 middle name thread?
I know several Something Something Louise Surnames and the Louise looks like it's been shoved in there,

Good luck OP!

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 15/04/2024 14:13

Jude is not my cup of tea (makes me think of Judas) but it’s quite trendy so a lot of people must love it. Anton is nice enough, especially as it has meaning to you and Wilfred is lovely ( Wilf sounds odd as given name to me, though it’s a cool nn). I like the sound/flow of Wilfred (nn Wilf) Anton Jude better but that’s just personal taste. Good luck for tomorrow!

Ontopofthesunset · 15/04/2024 14:06

I think since both Jude and Anton are quite distinctive names (and Jude particularly currently fashionable) you want to choose a third name that is traditional and quite plain. After all, he is never going to use any of these names except on forms and applications.

So Henry, Max, James, George, John, for example. Wilf is an abbreviation so seems odd as a middle name (because you're never actually going to call him this so why not give the full name?) and Otis, for example, seems too 'notice me'.

What is the purpose of a middle name after all? My kids never use theirs and rather resent that I saddled them with two each (all family names which were fortunately quite plain and unburdensome).

MerryChristmasToYou · 15/04/2024 13:45

Why do names have to "flow"? When's the last time someone used your middle name?
They don't have to but it helps if they do. I think 2 or more middle names usually makes for a cumbersome full name.
Charles Philip Arthur George Windsor, Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson, Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon, Billie Eilish Pirate Baird O’Connell etc don't really flow.

What matters is does Jude Surname flow.

The only people I know who use the middle name are those with very common first names and surnames - John Smith/Jane Smith type names.

Does your surname start with S?

🤣

Best of luck with your new arrival.

Moreteaandchocolate · 15/04/2024 13:04

Jude Anton Wilf is good! As long as the initials are ok with your surname?

Jude Anton plus a one syllable second middle name works well. If you want other ideas, how about -

Jude Anton Max
Jude Anton James
Jude Anton Finn
Jude Anton George
Jude Anton Reid
Jude Anton Flynn
Jude Anton Seth
Jude Anton Luke

I like Anton as a first name
Anton Jude

CoconutGirI · 25/03/2024 00:29

Jude anton
Or jude Henry Anton
Don't like the others they don't flow

PoppingTomorrow · 22/03/2024 11:48

The flow doesn't really matter. It will be said so infrequently.

I like Jude Henry Anton the best

Mumofgirls2017 · 22/03/2024 11:45

I think the top 3 are nice and flow fine!

MerryChristmasToYou · 22/03/2024 10:22

Jude Anton Finch is the best one

cantddiceenames · 22/03/2024 09:39

Bacchus Sebastian Anton
James Edward Anton

AmaryllisChorus · 21/03/2024 23:38

I think Jude Theodore Anton or Jude Anton Theodore both work well. IRL they never use middle names. I never use mine.DC never use theirs.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 21/03/2024 23:36

It’s hard to know for sure without knowing your surname but often 1 , 2, 3 syllable patterns sound good - like Jude Anton Theodore.

But is middle name flow really important? First and surname flow/sound is certainly important and obviously you don’t want the full initials to spell anything rude but imo middle names are said aloud so rarely that it’s more important that you use the family names you want to honour.

theduchessofspork · 21/03/2024 22:52

Jude Anton Theodore works fine

I agree the others sound awkward

NorthernMouse · 21/03/2024 22:45

As long as the initials don’t spell anything dodgy it really doesn’t matter whether the names flow. I have older DC and their middle names are rarely mentioned.

All those names are great, pick your favourite.

Moreteaandchocolate · 21/03/2024 22:44

I love Jude Anton George! Others that sound good to me are Jude Henry Anton, Jude Maxwell Anton and Jude Anton Max.

These sound nice too -
Jude Anton Archie
Jude Anton Theodore

A few other ideas -
Jude Anton Rhys
Jude Anton Oscar
Jude Anton James
Jude Anton Flynn
Jude Anton Ezra
Jude Nathaniel Anton
Jude Finlay Anton

MaloneMeadow · 21/03/2024 22:43

I think that Anton doesn’t work so well as a second name as it sounds a bit like Jude ‘and’ third name

RainStreakedWindows · 21/03/2024 22:40

I think these work.

Jude Anton Finch
Jude Theodore Anton
Jude Henry Anton
Jude Maxwell Anton
