Would you have 2 children with the same initial?

My fave boys name has the same initial as DS's name and I just think it will be too confusing in years to come with post etc - or is that a really trivial reason not to use the name I want to?

I wouldn't do it- purely for the difficulty with post later on.

I have a J and a T - tbh ds1 chose T's name, dh wasn't interested and I could only think of my girl name () which wasn't to be.
I don't LOVE T's name, but that is who he is.
But then when pg with J the baby was always going to be that (full) name (if a boy) and within a week it had been shortened, and we never use the full version.

Both my children have the same initials for first and second names. I did wonder whether it would be a problem when they got older with post etc. but liked the names, so just went for it and both middle names were after family connections anyway so was always going to be the same initial, albeit different names - one is a ds and one a dd.

Personally no, ds1's name starts with J and there were loads of other J names that I liked, but wouldn't consider beacuse it was the same initial.
But on the otehr hand I just don't get chosing names that go together.
Wierd.

Scotia - that is good to know.

Of course that by the time they are old enough to receive their own post, letters will no doubt be obsolete and this will be irrelevant

They are both biblical names and therefore go well together and I can't think of another boys name I like as much

IMHO it would depend on how much you like the name.
I know people who went out of their way to give their DC the same initials as themselves and I know people who did the exact opposite. Both of them, I feel, were too driven by their criteria and may have (in one case did) missed a name that they liked better.
Really, if you have a name that you love then go for it - you can always give them a middle name with a different initial.

My two eldest (25 & 22) have the same initials for first and middle names - wasn't intentional. It never really caused too many problems with post etc.

I wouldn't. But that could be because I know a couple called Darren and Debbie, and their kids Daryl and Dean. And it's so daft, imo, that it put me right off!

The boy's name we have chosen has the same initial as one of my dd's names. But apart from that it fits all the criteria and we love it.
