Hi all,

I’m pregnant with my second daughter, due in a few weeks weeks and we’ve decided to name her Sunday. I’d love some nickname ideas that aren’t “Sunny”.

Middle name will be Victoria just as an FYI.

Thanks all!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Or Darren

Watchthedoormat · 17/03/2024 21:19

I like Doris (Day)

honeylulu · 17/03/2024 21:18

Sunday is a nice name. It's silly though if she isn't born on a Sunday.
And "Sunny" isn't short for Sunday, it the same number of syllables. Why does a two syllable name need shortening? If you want it shorter your options are "Sun" or "Day", no?

chattyness · 17/03/2024 21:16

I think Sunny is a lovely name though, it's got a happy positive feel like sunshine and summer. I would be singing "Sunny one so true I love you " to get all the time That might make you cringe if you don't like it though .😆

StuffLoriThangs · 17/03/2024 21:16

I agree with a pp that suggested Daisy.
I figure Sue could work too.

I know you didn’t ask OP but I like it.

Homebird8 · 17/03/2024 21:15

Undies

Or if she actually born on a Sunday then Bonnie or Blythe as in the old rhyme.

olympicsrock · 17/03/2024 21:15

Do you like any of the suggestions OP?
I like Daisy and Blythe and Sunshine from the suggestions

FortunataTagnips · 17/03/2024 21:14

Intheparkwithgeorge?

I do like Sunday, though.

But what if she's born on a Thursday?

Pieceofpurplesky · 17/03/2024 21:12

Great name OP, Sunday shortened to DeDe. If you love it go for it.

Lulu1919 · 17/03/2024 21:11

I like it
Can't think of a short version though sorry

2024namechange · 17/03/2024 21:10

@LadyKenya which sounds like Sunday Roast!!

fwiw I don’t mind the name Sunday but it’s a bit ridiculous if she ends up being born on a Thursday.

TheTigerWhoCameToEatMyHusband · 17/03/2024 21:10

I just think Sunday looks like you got your name inspiration from a calendar. I like sunny though

TheTimeIsNowMaybeNow · 17/03/2024 21:08

There's nothing wrong with Sunday. It's probably going to by sunny , daisy is quite cute though

I'd just correct every time. 2 of my dc have names that can be shortened but they've always refused to answer to shortening of their names

Talkwhilstyouwalk · 17/03/2024 21:08

Sunny or Sun. Or Day I guess....

LauderSyme · 17/03/2024 21:08

My last workplace had a client named Shoes. Her actual first name. She was white British and a lovely person who ran a successful business.

I like Sunday, it makes for a pretty name.

sexnotgenders · 17/03/2024 21:08

Ignore the haters OP, and for what it's worth, I love Sunday. And I reckon @Phial has come up with a great nickname suggestion in brunch! Nicknames are supposed to be informal and the best ones are often silly/plain nonsense, so I can see a little brunch fitting the bill perfectly

annlee3817 · 17/03/2024 21:03

For me I think nicknames generally sit with the personality of the child rather than their name, Not all names lend themselves well to a nickname, our first child was easy, but the second child with a more unusual name, nothing fits, and we've got it into our heads that's because we have a silly nickname for our first we need to do the same for our second, 18 months in and still not there

DeepBrickFox · 17/03/2024 20:33

Sh*t no I didn’t realise that?! Knock me down with a feather, I thought they stayed babies forever.

How do you know what will be ridiculous in 35 years? Not that long along people were naming tiny babies things like Gary, Norma and Fanny.

Thank God children are allowed to legally change their name.

That’s all I will say.

I bet there are loads of women walking around out there with normal names who were sadly originally named things like Sunday.

ChanelNo19EDT · 17/03/2024 21:01

clutching at straws here but just cos I like it ''Siún'' (shoon)

1984Winston · 17/03/2024 20:59

I don't have any suggestions but I love the name and both my children have nicknames (or shortened versions)

JengaNonConfirming · 17/03/2024 20:58

I think Sunday is a lovely name and works for a baby or a 35 year old. Wouldn't the world be boring if we all liked the same names!

timegoesbysoso · 17/03/2024 20:55

Why not just choose a shorter name?

Seems an odd dilemma made for no reason

spidermonkeys · 17/03/2024 20:54

I LoVe the name! I'm note sure there is anything other that Sunny for a short name. nick names will occur naturally as she gets a personality. Congratulations
