Nickname for a girl named Sunday

Hi all,

I’m pregnant with my second daughter, due in a few weeks weeks and we’ve decided to name her Sunday. I’d love some nickname ideas that aren’t “Sunny”.

Middle name will be Victoria just as an FYI.

I do no give a fuck who named their baby what. Someone being called it does not make it a name that is easy to wear in our culture. In another culture, it might be grand. If you are from another culture, might be grand. But for most people in the UK, Sunday will seem kind of silly.

I was known as my initials as a kid, JJ they stayed the same after marriage but only my dad calls me it now.

my son is often called EJ as well.

I guess S isn’t the easiest letter to pair with unless your surname starts with C, E, T, U,

I like Sunday as a name. I also like Sunny.

You could call her Sunz as nn or Dayday. Or see if one of the little kids of the family says it in a cute way. That's how my DD got her pet name.

I think it's lovely, really pretty and a cool name to have when she's older.
For the person who mentioned the sitcom "Happy Days" it first aired in the early seventies so not exactly contemporary reference.🤷‍♀️

A cute baby called Sunday is one thing, but a 35 year old woman called Sunday is ridiculous.

Why on earth would you do it?

I don’t think it’s any better or worse on a baby than an adult. It’s not a kind of name that’s particularly babyish or cute.

I really like the name Sunday! I also like Monday as a name. Lots of people on here are weird about names that are even faintly unusual to them.

Monday is a terrible name. No-one looks forward to seeing Monday. Friday would be much better..at least they would say "thank god, it's Friday".

I love the name and am gobsmacked people would be so nasty.

My mum decided on a nick name (sorry to the previous poster who is absolutely infuriated by the misuse of this word...) for me, to prevent a common nickname she didn't want. My brother was getting a shortened version and for both of us she just made sure to correct people. If you're happy with Sunday it's OK to just correct people until they get the hint.

fwiw I don’t mind the name Sunday but it’s a bit ridiculous if she ends up being born on a Thursday.

I doubt there are many people who remember what day of the week they were born on. I'd say even their parents don't remember.

OP. MN will give you an honest opinion. Whether you want to hear it or not, MN is like that one friend who will always tell you exactly how it is and so you don't go to for advice if you're feeling sensitive about it.

NN wise I agree with pisters who have said NN will evolve. My DS2 has a nickname that is nothing like his actual name but came from a girl in his nursery that couldn't say his actual name and it stuck like glue. He's almost 13. If you don't like Sunny, maybe Dee-dee?

I have to say though, agree with a PP who mentioned about the endless questions about what day of the week she was born on. People mean well but they will ask stupid questions or pass stupid comments. My middle name is something mildly festive. I'm named after a relative whose middle name was very old fashioned (think Fanny, Deirdre, Doris kind of thing) and DM couldn't bear to use it so she came up with the first name she could think of that began with the same letter. At least once a year I get asked if I was a Christmas baby - my birthday is in the summer.

I think Sunny is cute so I don't mind it that much. but I realise you are not keen

I actually disagree that nms are inevitable I have 4 children 3 with names that are easily shortened and they are all called by their full name. (last one has an Irish name so less issue with shortening more issue with pronunciation )
