Surname debate

First off this isn't about who gets to keep their surname, neither of us really care.
DP and I are expecting our first baby, neither of us are emotionally attached to our surname and have decided to just pick one and go with that. We actually both prefer the others surname. The names are Brazier and Parry. We don't really want to hyphenate.
We've decided we will now just go with what sounds best with our names and future kids names. This may be identifying but I'm ok with that - in fact if you know us in real life send us a text with your opinion 🤣

So what is better Parry or Brazier

Our first names are Kate and Michael, if baby is a girl she will be called Anna a boy will me Thomas. Other names we might used in the future are Emily, Sophie, James and Harry.

Well, yes. I suppose if we're being Margot Ledbetter about it Brazier has overtones of picket lines and trade unions. 🤣

I would use, Brazier, Barry or Barrie.

Your child could have your name as a second middle name before Brazier. That would be a traditional way to proceed if hyphenating or having a double surname doesn't appeal..

I vote for Parry. Brazier makes me think of brassiere.

And Harry Parry would be brilliant, actually.

It is listed as a surname on his birth certificate, passport etc. Legally both are his surname. One of them is used day to day which is fine.

I had this potential dilemma with the same B surname in the past. I think it's harsh and, yes, it was mispronounced as brassiere. I suppose Bobby has made it more well known but I still don't think it's a nice sounding name. So I'd pick Party.

And not double barrelling a surname makes it more straightforward to just use the last name while giving them equal weight legally. Which can create admin problems as well, of course, so something to think about. You can leave your middle names off a flight booking, for example, but you need to state your surname as it is on your passport.

I think Parry is quite dashing - makes me think of sword fighting. But Brazier may be better with the names that end in an -ee sound - Harry, obviously, but also Sophie and possibly Emily.

I also prefer Parry. Brazier just seems like the kind of last name you’ll be spelling all your life or correcting pronunciation.

We double barreled without the hyphen. First of the last names gets mistaken for a middle name so usually last one used which is fine, but they're both there! First last name can also be used as a first name so that probably also encouraged that a bit 😂

I remember reading somewhere that people with names nearer to the top of the alphabet have better outcomes on average. Probably something to do with getting more first goes..
