I think it is rather pretty - think Linda Evangalista..

Is it due a revival - does anyone know a Linda and would you consider it for your DDs?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SixSpotBurnet · 24/03/2008 11:54

I know a Joyce on mumsnet...

MaryAnnSingleton · 24/03/2008 11:54

I knew a Joyce at school

MadameCh0let · 24/03/2008 11:52

Difference between Susan and Tracey is though that Tracey became tarnished and associated with slappery and being a bit downmarketness.

A little Lindy or Susie would be sweet Ithink. A little Tracey? That would seem cruel. But think about it, Gracie is the number 2 name!

SixSpotBurnet · 24/03/2008 11:50

I don't know - maybe the association with Linda Lovelace did for it?

You never meet little Traceys these days, either, do you?

MaryAnnSingleton · 24/03/2008 11:43

weeonion · 24/03/2008 10:51

oh dear!. i am neither large breasted nor work in hospital admin. i wasnt born in the 60's and hope i'm not a busybody!!

off to investigate deed poll options....

MadameCh0let · 24/03/2008 10:48

What would you think of a little girl called Susie? Weird? Or refreshing?

MadameCh0let · 24/03/2008 10:30

I thought that Stella McCartney would call her daughter Belinda. It would have been so much cooler than Bailey which is dated and woof woof.

There is a Brenda in an Evelyn Waugh novel. She's got a son and a lover called John. She was horrible. What was the name of that book?

seeker · 24/03/2008 07:08

Isn't Brenda the woman that Bridie married they were all so horrible about in Brideshead?

As a matter of interest, momto2latinoboys, why don't you like family names? Is it a general dislike, or just your family? I really like using names that go back through the generations.

MrsJohnCusack · 24/03/2008 05:57

BRenda is the woman in a HAndful of Dust

pinkbubble · 24/03/2008 01:43

She ran off with my EX

Looking for Linda when Linda found me!!!! (song just after I had suspiciously split from the love of my life!) he went with a lady called Linda, although he never married her! Was absolutely heart broken and i really mean heart broken. Even when I see him now, he makes me shake, cant get a word out correctly. Still sends shivers up my spine and I have been married with DH for 16 yrs and together for 20 yrs

Although I cant still help wondering!

I think that - well obviously really - that names don't make a comeback until their previous owners are dead.

The trouble is, particluarly with girls names, if you get a name fashionable only 30, 40, 50 yeas ago, it can be ageing, don't you think. Susan, Carol, Karen etc.

I think Jaqueline and samantha are pretty but it'll be a while before they come round again.

MaryAnnSingleton · 23/03/2008 20:38

is there a Brenda in an Evelyn Waugh novel ?

fryalot · 23/03/2008 20:15

whatever happened to Linda?

hmm....

she was hiding away on the slow train home wasn't she?

LynetteScavo · 23/03/2008 20:15

Hmmm... Just wondering of the likelyood of being a grandma to a Linda Please no. I went to school with a very large breasted Linda. She was a cow.

DarrellRivers · 23/03/2008 20:14

I thought she called her Moira Masmotheredinchocolate
just read it today and thought it must be due for a revival

AbbeyA · 23/03/2008 20:12

As there seems to be a revival of, what I would term dreadful, names from 1920's-Mabel, Elsie, Winifred, Pearl, Ruby etc I would assume that Linda, Janet, Susan, Patricia, Lesley, Barbara, Brenda etc would follow on next!
