This is somewhat inspired by the resurrected prettiest girls name you know thread.

I wondered when you went to school what was the girl with the name you likes the most called?

I didnt grow up in the UK but for me her name was Karina. I thought her name was so pretty and unusual (it's a fairly normalish name for my generation in Denmark think top 50-100) but oh I had name.envy. grew out of it and Karina never even entered the consideration for my own children.😁

Elodie

She was also very glamorous

HuntingoftheSnark · 14/02/2024 17:34

The most exotic was Verona. I've never met another one. The prettiest was Gillian and I still like the name because it reminds me of her.

Sepi I absolutely loved it, I'd never heard it before and haven't since.
She was a lovely Russian girl.

garlictwist · 14/02/2024 17:31

Alicia. I always envied her name.

MrsJellybee · 14/02/2024 17:28

Astra

Lucy.

I am a Lucy - it was such a popular name in the late 80s early 90s, think there were 4 in my year. Nowadays I only hear of labradors being called Lucy hahahahaha (and labradors are amazing of course)

Avaline, rosemary.

Cuppa2sugars · 14/02/2024 17:10

I taught a girl called Beren which i thought was unusual. i really like the name.

doppelgangermirror · 14/02/2024 17:09

Xanthe.

Which is slightly ridiculous as I have a very similar name, also from Greek derivation, which I hated. The grass is always greener etc ...

Alasina - usually known as Sina. Lovely Samoan name.

Unusually, Tomorrow, which sounds so pretty as a name. She was a Thai exchange student. Most of the Thai girls chose an English word to use as a name.

menopausalmare · 14/02/2024 16:47

Lucy.

Elisha and Sarai (pronounced Suh-rey)

Elisha was also stunningly beautiful and so kind. She is now in Spain living her best life and i'm not envious at all 😁

In the 60s, Corrina, Alexandra, Dorothy.

In amongst all the Julie's Karen's and Susan's.

SilverSimca · 14/02/2024 15:43

At primary school, Cassandra. She was Greek, and I still think of her as her full name, middle name and all. She would probably be astounded, if she remembers me at all,
At secondary school, probably Sophie. There were two of them. Or Lara.

chaos76 · 14/02/2024 15:36

Zoe, Galinna, Cynthia, Gabrielle, Yolanda, they were really nice people so maybe skewed how I saw their names

iwannacoolrider · 14/02/2024 15:33

Joanna.

aifosaissela777 · 14/02/2024 15:32

Anaïs - I just thought it was pretty and different

XelaM · 14/02/2024 15:30

Marie

She was perfect and I wanted to be her.

Lampzade · 14/02/2024 15:30

When I was at secondary school we had a girl ( of Nigerian origin) Her name was Isiomah ( phonetically isi-oh - mah). I adored the name but obviously couldn’t use it for any of my dcs as it is a name used by a particular tribe in Nigeria.

IndignantIguana · 14/02/2024 15:30

Angelica - beautiful girl a few years old than me, amazing hair and nice too!

I went to secondary school in the west of Ireland thirty years ago with a girl called Cindy, she looked like a model.
