My dd15 is called Ruby and it still remains one of my favourite female names but is so so common now that I wish I hadn’t chosen it for her.
I feel it’s the equivalent of the name Sharon or Tracy when I was growing up.

Definitely Ruby.

LauderSyme · 10/02/2024 10:57

Jasmine but I like Fleur too. I can't stand Ruby - am not sure why though.

Onelife2024 · 10/02/2024 10:53

I love Ruby - definitely my favourite of your choices. It’s quite popular but not ridiculously so (around here anyway) and it’s got a simple and pretty but quite cool / strong vibe too.

Jasmine is nice too - and there is the option of Jaz as a cool short version for when she’s older if she likes.

Sorry I’m not keen on Fleur personally as a first name (it sounds a bit twee for me to want to be called it as an adult) but I do like it a lot as a middle name - Ruby Fleur or Jasmine Fleur sound great!

Strawberrycheesecake7 · 10/02/2024 10:24

I like Jasmine and Ruby, maybe Ruby slightly more but there’s not much in it. Both pretty names. I really don’t like Fleur at all sorry, I think it’s quite an ugly sound.

orangeblosssom · 10/02/2024 10:20

She should have all 3 names!

Agree with a pp re Yasmin
But out of your list, I prefer Jasmine.
Rubys are 10 a Penny round here and Fleur just sounds like a noise to me.

Fleur

LadyWithLapdog · 10/02/2024 09:34

I like them. I prefer Yasmin as it’s a softer sound. I think Fleur looks prettier than it sounds.

chattyness · 10/02/2024 09:32

I love Ruby

KnickerlessParsons · 10/02/2024 09:30

Ruby is always Ruby Murry to me, or a kitchen maid.
Fleur sounds like bleurgh.
Jasmine is nice if you can put up with Jaz nn.

Zonder · 10/02/2024 09:28

Ruby is very common in my DDs school - depends on whether you mind that. Jasmine is fairly popular. Fleur is pretty but always sounds like meh or ugh when kids say it.

Think I'd go for Jasmine out of those.

Onemorebaby · 10/02/2024 09:25

I love that, a Fleur who has a Ruby.

Fleur is my favourite- I do know a grown up Fleur who has a baby Ruby too. They're all pretty names.
