Love Jasmine. Beautiful name

ColdButSunny · 11/02/2024 21:57

Jasmine

CharlieBoo · 11/02/2024 21:57

I think Ruby is lovely. Only know a couple of teen Ruby’s. Also like Jasmine and like the nickname Jaz.. Fleur, agree it looks pretty written down, it’s the sound that’s not appealing.

Anjea · 11/02/2024 21:16

Fleur is the sound DS makes when he's puking

BungleandGeorge · 11/02/2024 21:04

There’s loads of rubys of secondary age, and a fair few younger but I wouldn’t let that put you off. I agree fleur looks over than it sounds with English accents. Jasmine is again more popular with older teens and early 20s but less so
than Ruby. I prefer it out of the 3 and like the nickname Jas. you could also have Min/ Minnie

Watchthedoormat · 11/02/2024 21:02

Love Jasmine.
Ruby is very popular and kind of takes something away from it as it is still a lovely name. Loads aged 13-18 around here.
Fleur is bleugh to me- sorry.

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 11/02/2024 20:55

Fleur and Ruby are great. Nothing wrong with Jasmine but not as keen.

peaceinourtime · 11/02/2024 14:41

Jasmine. Fleur sounds like a feminine hygiene product.

Pemba · 11/02/2024 11:32

I'm not sure about Fleur, just the sound of it, although it's not awful.

I like Ruby quite a lot, and Jasmine is pretty. Although I really love Jessamine/Jessamyn, which is the older version and more unusual. And with that you get the shortening 'Jess' rather than 'Jazz' which I think is nicer. Yasmin is nice too.

Onemorebaby · 11/02/2024 09:58

Interesting, quite a divide in everyone's opinions and I've taken them on board.
In dc school I don't know anyone with these names and I also work with children and have so far only come across Yasmins. The only Ruby's and Jasmine's that I've ever come across are older so maybe a bit less popular now? Not met a Fleur yet.
Our last name can sound like a stage name with some first names especially if they end in a vowel, y or r so Ruby and Fleur have a good ring to them with our last name. Jasmine still sounds OK.

They're all nice. Which one goes best with the surname?

OopsieeDaisy · 10/02/2024 22:04

Jasmine is a lovely name and I also like Jaz as a nn. Not a fan of Ruby but I’m not sure why. Agree with some previous comments that Fleur looks prettier than it sounds.

salamithumbs · 10/02/2024 21:41

Jasmine! Love it 😊
Ruby is nice enough too but I'm not a fan of Fleur! Agree with pp that it just sounds like bleurghh...plus Fleur Delacour was called 'Phlegm' by Ginny so reminds me of that too

user1492757084 · 10/02/2024 14:27

Jasmine

AmaryllisChorus · 10/02/2024 13:22

I love Jasmine. And Jazz is a cool nn. Or she could be Minnie!

MaloneMeadow · 10/02/2024 13:21

Fleur is lovely but only in certain accents - I wouldn’t use it because of this. Ruby would be my second choice, Jasmine is very pretty but a bit too Disney Princess. How about Yasmin? We know one and I’ve always loved it! It gets shortened to Yazzy a lot which is quite cool and means ‘Jasmine flower’ in Persian

Amdone123 · 10/02/2024 12:41

I love Fleur. I'm not keen on Jasmine but can see how Jazz is quite cool. Especially on a teenager. I love Ruby. I wanted it for my ds ( he's mid 30s now).
Ruby Tuesday
( that middle name might have been hormones. Or a life long love of Rod Stewart 🤣).

BoleynMemories13 · 10/02/2024 12:40

I really like Ruby. It was very popular in the late 00s but I'm not aware of many primary aged or younger (around me at least).

Jasmine is ok but I really dislike Jazz.

Fleur just doesn't sound nice to my ears. There's a reason it's not popular.

Ruby is so pretty, definitely the best of the 3.

Hohofortherobbers · 10/02/2024 12:32

I love Fleur, would have used it but really doesn't go with my surname. I fact trying it with a few surnames sounds odd, maybe it's the 1 syllable long sound. I hope it goes with yours Smile

hlc123 · 10/02/2024 12:29

I like them all, I think jasmine is the nicest, followed by fleur. Ruby is very popular in my area.

FayCarew · 10/02/2024 12:07

Fleur looks pretty but doesn't sound very nice in a non-rhotic accent.
Ruby is ok but a bit 'Victorian kitchen maid' or a dog's name
Jasmine is ok

BoxOfPaints · 10/02/2024 11:27

Jasmine is slightly trashy, I think. Ruby is so-so but Fleur is very elegant.

amz4 · 10/02/2024 11:19

Ruby 😊

Notahotmess · 10/02/2024 11:10

Jasmine will be shortened to Jazz which is awful.

I'm Jasmine and have always been Jazz, much prefer it to Jasmine which I have always hated.

Of the three, I like Ruby.

Thehamsterthatcametotea · 10/02/2024 11:07

Ruby is so popular and like pp said it’s a Sharon or Tracey name.

Jasmine will be shortened to Jazz which is awful.

Fleur is gorgeous.
