THe jolly hockey sticks Cordelia got me thinking......

I knew, growing up, a very posh Annabel, Amelia and Beatrice.

All names that could be used by anybody these days. Imogen is another one that was ouch posh when I was about 12.

So what is posh now? Clemency? Tuppence?

Victoria has not been posh for ages. Tons of Victorias, often known as Vicky, in the 70s. But I suppose maybe prior to that it was.

Is Felicity posh?

My2Weegirls · 22/03/2008 19:48

I am a huge name snob and remember thinking Ruby was lovely....sadly my views on both have changed with time

llareggub · 22/03/2008 19:26

Names that end in the letter a are generally regarded as posh, I think.

Scattybird · 22/03/2008 19:22

I always thought Bunty was posh. What's it short for?

Isabella - absolutely still posh! I am biased as my DD is one

Pen74 · 22/03/2008 13:57

I would say that Theo is fairly common!

Sophie used to be very middle-class back in the 70s. As did Oliver.

MaryAnnSmotheredinchocolate · 22/03/2008 13:48

Cousin's dd is Camilla
I always like Theo because it's not common and is also a little bit street

I've met a lot of very young boys and some girls with names I think of as quite old fashioned recently - ds and I met Herbie, Hector, Henry, two Oscars, Hermione and Matilda.

My dad has a cousin Cordelia who is over 2 years younger than me, though I guess my dad's family were at the posh end of upper middle class.
