Shouldn't it be due a comeback? I think it sounds kind of earthy and folky

I quite like it actually. There was Keith Flint from The Prodigy. He was pretty un-Keith like!

greengreengrass25 · 04/02/2024 12:23

Yes

Disembowel yourself with spears etc😂

ginasevern · 04/02/2024 11:32

greengreengrass25 · 03/02/2024 20:12

@ginasevern

Totally agree

You remember the Spitting Image song too!

Needmorelego · 03/02/2024 20:28

@soupfiend I've always said/heard it as "Feebie" - but I actually thought I was saying it wrong - the same as I say/hear Keith as Keef, Theo as Feo.
I have now learned I wasn't wrong after years of thinking I was insulting any Phoebe's I met 😂

soupfiend · 03/02/2024 20:20

Needmorelego · 02/02/2024 13:29

@Hobbi I think the Ph is meant to have more of a 'Thuh' sound - like Theo - but many people say it more F like.
If that makes sense.
"Thuh-eebee" 🤔

You havent actually been saying that have you? To people called Phoebe (Feebie)?

greengreengrass25 · 03/02/2024 20:12

@ginasevern

Totally agree

PrincessHoneysuckle · 03/02/2024 17:56

I know a 12 year old Keith.Awful name

ginasevern · 03/02/2024 17:55

Bbq1 · 02/02/2024 23:29

And : Carl
Simon
Damon

I don't see that Simon is in the same bracket as Carl or Damon. Simon is a timeless biblical name on a par with David or Matthew whereas the latter two are very 60's sort of "glamour boy" names. That's like saying Ruth or Elizabeth are in the same league as Brenda or Shirley.

SueBranchers · 03/02/2024 11:29

no LOL keith is reserved for anyone over age 50

Berlinlover · 02/02/2024 23:34

Nicebloomers · 02/02/2024 12:58

I just know there will come a time when our kids have kids and are choosing between Janet and Tricia or Trevor and Barry 😂😂😂

All lovely names.

Needmorelego · 02/02/2024 23:33

@theduchessofspork we established I was wrong about the pronunciation several hours ago 😂

Bbq1 · 02/02/2024 23:30

Martin and Gavin are lovely names and definitely due a comeback, i think .

Bbq1 · 02/02/2024 23:29

And : Carl
Simon
Damon

Bbq1 · 02/02/2024 23:26

Kevin?

JaneLawrence · 02/02/2024 23:14

I reckon that Keith needs another 10 - 20 years before it’s starting to feel fresh and ripe for a revival.
At the moment it’s probably still a bit too much of a ‘grandad’ name. And not in a good way.

theduchessofspork · 02/02/2024 23:06

Needmorelego · 02/02/2024 13:29

@Hobbi I think the Ph is meant to have more of a 'Thuh' sound - like Theo - but many people say it more F like.

"Thuh-eebee" 🤔

Um, no it isn’t.

Are you thinking of Thisbe?!

theduchessofspork · 02/02/2024 23:04

It’s fucking awful OP 😁

Bingoe · 02/02/2024 16:56

I think popular names come around every 100 years or so. So it’s not time for the 1940s to 1960s names to come back yet.

Floralnomad · 02/02/2024 16:55

I agree with you @Ghuunvg . My late dad was a Keith and our son has it as a middle name . I suppose some names you like because of association and my dad was a truly wonderful person .

sunflowerpinks · 02/02/2024 16:52

Those of you that say Keef, so you also say Feo for Theo and Fe for The?

heldinadream · 02/02/2024 16:33

Or Keifer.

I know a Kylie spelt 'Khaili'. If you know her too for fux sake don't out me, I doubt she'd be happy with this post, but it does amuse me, especially as she pre-dated the famous Kylie so until Kylie was a thing she was very younique.

ohididntrealise · 02/02/2024 15:47

Keith has always been relatively common in parts of Scotland and I know two teenagers and a 9 year old Keith.

I'm not that keen, but I do quite like Kenneth / Kenny.
