Lots of Jagos of various ages here (Cornwall).

How about Lowen, Piran, Jowan, or Ruan if you like Cornish names?

OctaviaRedQueen · 29/01/2024 16:05

Rory.

theduchessofspork · 29/01/2024 16:00

Love Rory!

There are millions though so I’d go with Jago, which is nice

Or Jory - a Cornish version of George

Jerome
Ronan
Rufus
Jacoby
Robert nn Robbie

might be others..

NewYearNameChanger · 29/01/2024 08:25

Jago is a great name, I'd go for that one. The Rory I know can't say Rs so introduces himself as 'Wohwee' and that would put me off using that name.

JemimaNutkin · 29/01/2024 08:18

How about Jory? It's the Cornish equivalent of George and is similar to both names but not quite as popular.

Rory.

Others nicer than Jago ..
Pogo
Hugo
Friso
Arlo
Sage
Viggo

Pogo 😂

MerryMarigold · 29/01/2024 07:25

I don't like Jago and would put it in a category with Hugo which I also dislike. Very much 'try hard posh'.

Rory is nice. He sounds like a nice person.

WarningOfGails · 29/01/2024 07:12

I know one Jago, also know it as a surname (live in the SW). I like it more than Rory.

piscofrisco · 29/01/2024 07:01

I love Jago

eyeblob · 29/01/2024 06:48

I know a couple of Jagos but live in Cornwall.

Lulu1919 · 29/01/2024 06:46

Love Jago
I know a 13 yr old one who is lovely

Jago. Like Django, which I've always liked. I like Rory too but avoided it with our boys as I was aware that if they couldn't say their 'r's it could be tricky!

DramaAlpaca · 29/01/2024 01:29

I tend to think of Jago as a surname.

I love Rory, fabulous strong Irish male name meaning 'red king'.

So, Rory - for sure.

Grrrrrrreatt · 29/01/2024 01:22

Rory is a great name

Quisto · 29/01/2024 01:11

In Cornwall, I know several of both. Definitely not posh where I live.

BoleynMemories13 · 28/01/2024 22:52

I much prefer Rory

Switcher · 28/01/2024 20:04

When I see Jago I immediately think of Iago, which is not a good thing.

FrankieLet · 28/01/2024 20:03

Jago is a beautiful Cornish name. I love it and would have chosen it for my son but I know it's commonly misinterpreted elsewhere as being either pretentious or in the Jayden/Kayden/Kai category.

cheesescheeses · 28/01/2024 19:59

I have a Jago, he’s the best and suits his laid back name.

Petrine · 28/01/2024 18:59

Jago is a Cornish surname as well as a first name.

I don’t think it sounds pretentious at all.

WillYouPutYourCoatOn · 28/01/2024 18:50

I encountered a Jago ten or so years ago at DS nursery. (Expensive nursery, but no one acknowledges it kinda place.)

This mum turned up and seemed so pleased with the name sounding pretentious. It's like the new Hugo, which was more associated with upper class, but massively overused now. She would shout "Jago darling, hurry the ponies need feeding." Because "Come on, quickly please" like the rest of us just wouldn't do. Or talk loudly into her phone "Ohhh, you must ski Les Arcs, we always ski Les Arcs" with her eyes flitting round to see who'd noticed. Many eyes were rolled at this woman.

If you're going to use Jago, please don't be like this woman Grin

HardcoreLadyType · 28/01/2024 18:46

Jago.

There was one in a book I read, and I really liked it. Ivo is similar, and I really like that, as well.

CordeliaGrey · 28/01/2024 18:42

They were the exact same
choices for my son - and may I congratulate you on you excellent taste 😉 😊

We went for Jago and he so suits it. He is now 20 years old and loves his name.

Definitely pronounced Ja-go

timoteigirl · 28/01/2024 15:43

Which sounds better with the surname?
