Just that really. I love the name Jessica (nn Jess) for our DD, due in a couple of weeks.

What are people's opinions?

Yes. I love it.

It was still top 10 until a few years ago so not dated at all. I teach 3 under 13.

It's one of those names where there are some of all ages but not loads of any age - which is perfect imo.

Gloryloroliesjo · 28/01/2024 00:55

It’s definitely not a name I would choose. Not a very calm name and the people I know called Jessica are quite tricky! Every name is so personal though. My granddaughter has a beautiful name but on MN it is ridiculed

NewName24 · 28/01/2024 00:49

Lovely name Smile

MaloneMeadow · 28/01/2024 00:41

Can’t say I’m a fan! It just feels dull & boring to me after being so overused in the 90s/early 00s

Newstarto · 28/01/2024 00:30

Sweet valley high! Great name

YoungBritishPissArtist · 28/01/2024 00:30

I love it! Nicknames Jessie or Decca.

GaryBerrycloth · 28/01/2024 00:28

A great choice for a little girl born 2024.

It is widely believed that Shakespeare, in his creative brilliance, transformed the spelling of the biblical name Iscah into the name Jessica, meaning "sight" in Hebrew. :) nice connection.

Thank you for all the lovely comments.
Picking a name is such a difficult and personal thing - didn't think it would be this hard!

Yes

MerryMarigold · 27/01/2024 23:07

I know a Jessica in her 20s and one who is 3. Lovely, timeless name but not common.

Aquamarine1029 · 27/01/2024 23:07

Love, love, love it.

DinaofCloud9 · 27/01/2024 23:06

I say yes. Nice name.

Onelife2024 · 27/01/2024 23:06

Yes, I love it! I know Jessica’s of a range of ages so I don’t think of it as dated to a particular decade. I love Jess as a shortening too.

NannyR · 27/01/2024 23:03

Love it!

VoleChomper · 27/01/2024 23:02

I like it. It's been popular for decades, not so much now as in the 90s but there are still plenty of Jessicas being born. It has the Shakespeare link too which gives it a good solid provenance.

theduchessofspork · 27/01/2024 23:02

Lovely

I like Jess and Jessie as nns

I know a Jessica nn Jess who is 10, and a Jessie who is 4 so don’t think there’s anything dated about it

DramaAlpaca · 27/01/2024 23:01
