Do you think they "go together"?
Thanks!

What a load of BS on this thread.
Why do names have to ' go together '
If you like the names , use them.

fightingthedogforadonut · 25/01/2024 09:37

Blimey, this thread is peak Mumsnet...

OP, they are both perfectly acceptable names. If you like them, go for it.

TallulahBetty · 25/01/2024 09:35

Poor Philippa. Bad enough that she is called Philippa, but then her sister gets a lovely name.

MrsMitford3 · 25/01/2024 09:30

Just to add a bit of balance-I love Phillipa-Sienna is not to my taste at all but since you already named your DD that I will leave it.
But I think Phillipa gorgeous name but the styles are very clashing

Toomuchgoingon79 · 25/01/2024 09:26

No they don't go togther. Phillipa is frumpy and will get shortened to Phil, at least the 3 that are in their 40's are. You need something more modern sounding I think.

Wictc · 25/01/2024 09:00

Do they need to go together? They’re not going to be joined at the hip. I’m not so keen on Philippa, it was popular for 80s children, like Sarah. I know two and it’s always shortened to Phil (despite one of them whose parents call them Pip).

ChaosAndCrumbs · 25/01/2024 08:54

I agree with pp. I think Sienna was used more in the US first and sounds modern with a colour meaning, whereas Philippa is a more classic name. I’m not actually sure Pip goes with Sienna, as Sienna is flown and Pip is more of a traditional old boy’s nickname that sounds cute. Depends what Sienna’s nickname is though and also doesn’t matter what I think as it’s your dc 😊

Passingthethyme · 25/01/2024 08:31

Don't go together. Sienna is modern, and Phillipa is old, frumpy lady

@Mumofgirls2017 Piper or "Pijper" sadly has a whole different meaning in Dutch

Philippa is classy. Sienna isn't.

Mumofgirls2017 · 24/01/2024 22:15

I love piper nn pip with sienna ❤️

Onelife2024 · 24/01/2024 22:13

I voted that, no they don’t go together, but just wanted to say I don’t think it matters - choose the name you like best anyway.

Alwaystired2023 · 24/01/2024 22:01

Think they are both lovely names they are sisters they don't have to be identical for their whole identity for the rest of their lives do they 🤣🤣

Yu98 · 24/01/2024 21:58

@happyinherts All high up in the charts. I could probably give you a hundred more one-syllable names.

happyinherts · 24/01/2024 21:27

Bo, Fem, Liz, Lot, Pim, Jip, Tess, Puck,

Some of those are world's apart from either Sienna or Philippa.

mauvish · 24/01/2024 21:22

I'm not keen on Philippa but it's much more of a classic name than Sienna.

Yu98 · 24/01/2024 21:18

@SchmoozeyDoozey 😂

SchmoozeyDoozey · 24/01/2024 21:10

No, Philippa only wears lambswool jumpers so you won't be able to hand down Sienna's clothes to her.

telestrations · 24/01/2024 20:57

I think they go perfectly well with each other and don't know what violin/vape is about. I've known WC Charlotte's and MC Sienna's, if that's what is meant.

But then I don't think singling names have to match. You do want to be able to ring them off without it being a tongue twister which you with these two.

DramaAlpaca · 24/01/2024 20:38

I like them together! They're not the same style but it doesn't really matter.

reddaise · 24/01/2024 20:37

DinaofCloud9 · 24/01/2024 19:43

No Sienna is quite a flashy name and Philippa is dull.

Agree with this!

KirstenBlest · 24/01/2024 20:36

Philippa is great. Doesn't really go with Sienna but it doesn't have to.

Yu98 · 24/01/2024 20:16

If we name her Philippa, we will call her Pip. We loved the name Pippa, until we found out about it's Italian meaning.
I am Dutch though, if that is any help. Over here very short names have been a trend for over a decade (Sam, Bo, Fem, Liz, Lot, Pim, Jip, Tess, Puck, etc.).
But Pip felt a little "incomplete" next to Sienna's name.
