What does everyone think of this for a girl?

Just wondering what people’s thoughts are on Myka for a girl? Pronounced as it’s written, My-ka. I am aware it’s also a boys name, when spelled Micah. We found the name from watching Warehouse 13 where the lead female is called Myka. And I used to have a lady I spoke to at work called Maike which is pronounced the same way.

Thanks!

I had a hairdresser called Heike, pronounced Hy-Ka, always liked that name.

I quite like it.

Could you use Mikaela and have it as a nn?

Thanks so far to those who have replied. I expected some to not like it but I’m glad to see others do like it! ❤️

The name itself could suit a female, although it's not to my taste, but the spelling awful.

Mika or Mica would be better.

@Urcheon wow okay 😂 I think Myka sounds much nicer than Asbestos though, so I can cope with that. Plus ‘Micah’ is a well established as a name anyway.

And I did know it is a mineral.

I know a little girl called Micah - think that's how it's spelt. I also know a teenaged boy with the same name. I'd always assumed it was unisex!

Mica is a mineral component found in defective building blocks used in thousands of houses in the northwest of Ireland, causing them to crack and develop serious structural issues — there’s a huge citizens’ redress scheme under way about it.

To me, it would be like calling your child Asbestos.

Onelife2024 · 21/01/2024 18:49

It’s not my usual taste in names but I quite like it actually! Sounds fresh and strong, a refreshing change from the trend for soft sweet names for girls.

Sandysandwich · 21/01/2024 18:46

It makes me think of Mica, like the mineral that is in make up and industrial lubricant, but thats probably niche.
Or MIKA the singer.

SirChenjins · 21/01/2024 18:45

No - not keen on Mike or Michael and it looks like you’ve named your daughter after a male relative who’s named that.

Scutterbug · 21/01/2024 18:42

I quite like it.
