Patrick or Heath?

Hi!

We’re set on a girls name but really stuck between these two names - middle name would be David, surname Gray.

Any opinions on them or anyone who has used either of these names?

Thank you!

Heath.

I like Patrick too, but I despise the nickname Paddy.

bigfatcarrotcruncher · 27/01/2024 20:57

Heath!

Awrite · 27/01/2024 12:06

Patrick is a great name.

My first thought when I read Heath was that you'd misspelt health.

It could grow on me. No need when you can use Patrick though.

NewUser1111 · 27/01/2024 12:00

Patrick. Heath Gray sounds like a paint

Patrick, but I have a Patrick so obviously I love it! He’s the only one at school and he likes that.
Heath Grey sounds like a Dulux shade.

Yes! It'd be a nice lilac, grayish lilac! 😄

ChanelNo19EDT · 27/01/2024 11:57

Patrick

cordelia16 · 27/01/2024 11:55

Patrick, definitely. Sounds much better with the surname.

Notlongtogo2 · 16/01/2024 06:18

Patrick - I think it goes much better with your surname

Daisybuttercup12345 · 15/01/2024 22:57

Patrick.

theduchessofspork · 12/01/2024 19:31

Patrick is great and v underused

Heath Grey does sound like a porn star (SORRY)

Schum · 12/01/2024 19:07

I much prefer Heath but Patrick sounds better with your surname. My 9 year olds best friend is called Patrick, nickname Patch which is cute.

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 12/01/2024 19:00

Patrick.

heath is a nice name but not with your surname

MissyB1 · 12/01/2024 15:53

Patrick is great, knew a Patrick that went by Trick which I always thought was pretty cool.

Heath I don’t like so much, sounds like the sound of someone sighing

Mochacino · 12/01/2024 14:58

Patrick will never not be my favourite boys name so I’m biased. David is also a fantastic name.
i struggle to actually say Heath Gray. More like a shade of Farrow and Ball too possibly

PostmanPatIsIncompetent · 12/01/2024 14:55

I'm a bit surprised at the love for Patrick. To me that's a middle aged dad name, a bit like Simon, Martin, Paul, Tim. Nothing wrong with them at all (nothing wrong with any names in fact, I am a firm believer in you choose what you love, rather than what other people do!) but I see them as names on the way out, rather than undated classics/coming back in. I know a 35yo Patrick and he thinks his name is a bit of an old man's name.

But then if I've learnt anything about baby names it's: 1, everyone's different, and 2, the child becomes the name so you end up loving it either way

MsFrog · 12/01/2024 12:21

I have a Patrick and I love it. It's not very common at all, if that's important to you. We haven't come across another one yet, I don't think. Beautiful, classic boys name - although obv I'm going to say that!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 12/01/2024 12:06

Patrick. Much, much nicer name, not likely to go out of fashion, goes better with both David and your surname.

Ihatemondays1962 · 12/01/2024 11:12

Patrick.

SwiftyMcGifty · 12/01/2024 11:10

Ooh, I have a Heath!

Pros: you don't meet many (I have met one other a similar age). Very easy to spell and say (I gave one of my other children a more complicated name and I have occasionally wished I'd gone for something closer to Bob). He LOVES it: thinks it's "really cool", and a bit niche but every road trip we take he likes seeing his name in loads of place signs 😂. He really likes that there's a film star with it.

Cons: people do sometimes mishear and say "Keith? You don't meet many Keith's!"

blackoverbillsmothers · 12/01/2024 10:51

Patrick sounds better with Grey. I think Patrick Grey is very nice.

Heath makes me think of Heath Robinson.

Onelife2024 · 12/01/2024 10:47

Love Patrick

Heath isn’t to my taste and agree with pp that Heath Gray sounds like a paint colour!

IDontLoveTheWayYouLie · 12/01/2024 10:39

I prefer heath but Patrick goes better.

I have got David Grey - Babylon suck in my head now though😂

HarpyRampant · 12/01/2024 10:37

Patrick. Heath Gray sounds like a paint colour.

BombaySamphire · 12/01/2024 10:37

Patrick.
Heath is awful.
