Which do you prefer and why? Sibling for Rafferty.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
doggiedoodah · 29/12/2023 23:18

Olive and Rafferty are a perfect match ..both cool names .

abcdefghijkI · 29/12/2023 23:17

I quite like Etta! The rest are too pretentious for me.

Talkwhilstyouwalk · 29/12/2023 23:15

Etta by far my favourite but doesn't go with Rafferty. To many et sounds.....

SuperBored · 29/12/2023 23:15

No more olives please...just think of olive off 'on the buses', actress made to look as ugly as the name

Mayhemmumma · 29/12/2023 23:15

I love Etta but couldn't use Octavia or Ophelia without cringing personally.
Olive is a bit odd.

Rockrobon · 29/12/2023 23:13

Octavia and Ophelia are awful.
I know a few Olives and don’t really get the love for it, but it is very trendy at the moment.
Etta is ok.

Daisybuttercup12345 · 29/12/2023 23:08

Ophelia

MargaritaThyme · 29/12/2023 22:46

Octavia. After all, a million European taxi drivers can’t be wrong, can they? You could also use 2.0 TDI as a middle name…

MerryMarigold · 29/12/2023 22:43

I heard of an Ophelia recently so maybe it's on the up. Her sister is Calista and they go so well together I think. We have two Raffys where I work!

I don't like any of the other names you suggested. As PP mentioned Etta and Rafferty will have people spitting all over the place!

callainblue · 29/12/2023 22:42

I imagine you'd like Ottilie too

theduchessofspork · 29/12/2023 22:35

Chickydoo · 29/12/2023 22:04

Octavia is hideous, it's a car. Don't name your child after a car! The other names are fine.

… you know it was a name before a car right?

theduchessofspork · 29/12/2023 22:35

Octavia - it’s rather fantastic, makes me think of Octavia the Younger, nothing like a Roman Empress

Ophelia is too tragic
Etta undistinguished (ok as a nn for Harriet , Juliet etc)
Olive belongs in a salad

auntiesatthere · 29/12/2023 21:04

Etta - popular now but love it

Ophelia I love it - but a girl in my sons class is called this and the boys all shout 'Ophelia, yeah I would oh - feel - ya' .... she doesn't find it funny

Octavia is a car and it's not quite a Ferrari is it but again I love it

Olive - also getting popular and also love it

AuntMarch · 29/12/2023 21:00

Ophelia and Octavia sound a bit pretentious to me, but maybe if I knew children with these names it would change my perception. Ophelia is prettier if I had to choose out of these two.

100%. I made a bit of a face when I heard both of them orginally (via text, I'd never let on!) - now I actually think both are very cute!

Most pp seem to like Olive the most... I think its the worst! But again, maybe I wouldn't if I knew one. Just immediately makes me think Popeye.

I could see them becoming Etty and Etta
Or with Ophelia- Raffi and Phe

So I'd go with Octavia by default.

Herbusyness · 29/12/2023 20:50

How about Ottilie?

OctaviaRedQueen · 29/12/2023 20:49

Octavia of course 🥰

MeditatationMum · 29/12/2023 20:49

I like Etta

defi · 29/12/2023 20:25

Etta because of etta James, absolute icon. Then Ophelia just because it's popular on Monsterrat. The rest are very Mumsnet approved names.

bakewellbride · 29/12/2023 20:24

All very posh.

MerryChristmasToYou · 29/12/2023 20:23

Octavia.
Olive is drab, Olivia is much nicer. Etta - Ate a. Ophelia - 'feel ya'.

LikeItOrLumpIts · 29/12/2023 20:21

I don’t like Etta or Olive. Etta sounds like it’s short for something and Olive is so drab.

Ophelia at a push.

Onelife2024 · 29/12/2023 20:00

I love Etta (and would personally use as a nn for Henrietta).

I don’t mind Olive but it sounds a bit incomplete somehow, maybe because I’m so
used to hearing Olivia.

Ophelia and Octavia sound a bit pretentious to me, but maybe if I knew children with these names it would change my perception. Ophelia is prettier if I had to choose out of these two.

ALunchbox · 29/12/2023 19:59

Octavia

gocompare · 29/12/2023 19:54

Ophelia. It's beautiful I wanted this for my Dd but my DH at the time would not allow it.

How I have changed since then lol
