How would you pronounce Maelie?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Maëlie - Mah-el-lee, there is nothing to give a My-uh-lee sound
Maelie - Maily

Mayley, to rhyme with Hayley or Kayleigh.

Exactly this

squidgybits · 29/12/2023 02:12

nope , I hope the kid changes their name as soon as able

NortieTortie · 29/12/2023 02:05

Male-ee

Close to may-lee, but with emphasis on the male part

penjil · 29/12/2023 02:01

You'll always get people who will pronounce it

Mar-elly.

😬

ConsuelaHammock · 29/12/2023 01:56

No idea. I’d ask the parent or child how they say it!

Inmyownlittlecorner · 29/12/2023 01:50

May-Lee. I know a Mailli, pronounced like that. It's a Cornish name according to her parents.

Restrelief · 29/12/2023 01:43

I’ve never come across this name before May lee would be my first guess. but I’d certainly change if it is wrong.

if that pronunciation is correct my first guess at a spelling would be May Lee. (Depending on actual surname that might end up thinking first name May/Mae and a double barrel surname.)

male-y

This. Exactly like the Scottish Eilidh (ale-y) with an added M.

WilloTheWispy · 29/12/2023 01:38

May-eh-lee

uclpp · 29/12/2023 01:36

I wouldn’t
I’d avoid saying it due to the ambiguity - until I’d heard one of the parents or the child say it.

LauderSyme · 29/12/2023 01:36

May Lee

Kokeshi123 · 29/12/2023 01:31

"May lee"

Sounds like someone who wanted a Mila/Mia/Lia/Ellie type name and has tried and failed to make it more interesting.

PastorCarrBonarra · 29/12/2023 00:44

My Lee.

It’s a Breton name?

Like Maëlie - closer to MY-lee than MAY-lee, but with a kind of fast pause in the middle >> MY-(uh)-lee - almost in between two and three syllables.

This is how I would pronounce it.

idontlikealdi · 29/12/2023 00:16

Maily

HeddaGarbled · 29/12/2023 00:12

See, nobody knows, because it’s a jumble of letters pretending to be a name.

HerMammy · 29/12/2023 00:11

Rhyming with Daily

Psychonabike · 29/12/2023 00:05

Mylie, like Mylie Cyrus, I assume...since Mael (for boys, think its Welsh?) is usually said Mile?

MolkosTeenageAngst · 29/12/2023 00:03

Mayley, to rhyme with Hayley or Kayleigh.

AmazingDayz · 29/12/2023 00:02

May Lee, horrible name

Saschka · 29/12/2023 00:01

Rhymes with “Hayley”

WhamBamThankU · 28/12/2023 23:53

Mylie

Teenagersscarethelivinshitoutofme · 28/12/2023 23:51

Maylee
