Sanna or Zanna

We’ve been told Sanna isn’t really used over here as a shortened form of Susanna and we would be better calling DD Zanna.

We’ve had a few negative comments from family members this side of the channel on how it looks written down.

Just wondered if this was the case?

I know a Zanna (short for Susannah), never heard of Sanna.

I really like the name Sanne (pronounced the same as Sanna).

I work with a lot of Dutch people and it's a really common name over there.

They both made me think of constipation medication.
I'm not sure either works well as a name

I teach a Sana, unfortunately she gets a hard time from peers as it's a brand of Sanitary protection.

Marcipex · 27/12/2023 19:43

Sanna doesn’t sound very nice to my ears. It has connotations of sanitary.

Zanna didn’t make me think of Xanax because I first saw it written rather than heard it, but of course I hear it now.

Susie is very pretty and uncommon. Could you use that?

LegoHeads · 27/12/2023 19:40

I don't like either- they sound like medical brands.

Jennyjojo5 · 27/12/2023 19:40

To me they defo sound like some kind of medicine

KirstenBlest · 27/12/2023 19:38

Susie is lovely

Moveoverdarlin · 27/12/2023 19:38

Neither are actual names are they? Don’t like either to be honest.

MaloneMeadow · 27/12/2023 19:37

Both are very strange.. and not in a good way. The only Susannas I know that shorten their name go by Suzie

PieAndLattes · 27/12/2023 19:35

Zanna sounds too much like Zanax.
