I really like it. Go for it! I don’t find it harsh at all, but then I have an Isaac so maybe I just like that sound.

Mintygoodness · 23/12/2023 21:51

My 23 yr old dd has a best friend called Ida who is awesome so I say thumbs up.

Doublebiscuit77 · 23/12/2023 21:14

Makes me think of the operetta Princess Ida! If you got it from g&s, i prefer Iolanthe. Or Phoebe, Melissa, Leila, Zara, Lisa, Aline, Celia, Mabel, Elsie etc are all g&s characters.

ginasevern · 23/12/2023 15:49

When I was a child I had a doll called Ida that my brother brought back from Sweden. Nobody here had ever heard of the name but I always loved it.

MerryChristmasToYou · 23/12/2023 15:44

ileana looks like a jumble of vowels and it disappears into the Eliana type names

peaceinourtime · 23/12/2023 15:41

ileana is much better as a similar I starting name.

MerryChristmasToYou · 23/12/2023 10:50

Eye-da or Ee-da? Not keen on 'Eye-da' or Edie or Ada.

SOxon · 23/12/2023 04:46

when dd was little she had an annoying friend called Ida Know

CurlsnSunshinetime4tea · 23/12/2023 04:39

Portuguese version Aida.
I actually love it.

Amdone123 · 23/12/2023 04:17

I really like it.
My friend has an Ida Primrose.

DramaAlpaca · 23/12/2023 03:14

Depends how it's pronounced.

EE-da - yes, really nice. Very Scandi cool.

EYE-da - absolutely not. Granny very un-chic. Not cool at all.

Grumblevision · 23/12/2023 01:56

It's sweet. Reminds me of a game called Monument Valley - in a good way. I always liked the name after playing it. My only thought was that I'd forget it because it's similar to other names (like the ones mentioned above) but has less of a place in my memory in real life - I get that a lot with shorter names though, it might just be me. I don't think it's harsh though, it's a vowel sound.

Babla · 23/12/2023 01:09

Don't like

Pemba · 23/12/2023 01:01

Pretty name.

NewtonPulsifer · 23/12/2023 00:55

Ida Down?

Idan’t know if it is something Ida choose, but if you like it, go for it.

Olika · 23/12/2023 00:52

Like it

FrostieBoabby · 22/12/2023 23:55

Not keen, a bit harsh for me. Also if she wants to take her husbands name it might sound odd with some surnames.

Ida McDonald
Ida Payne
Etc

Oranesandlemons · 22/12/2023 23:43

I really like Ida!

justanothermummma · 22/12/2023 23:39

I love Ida, it's gorgeous.

We were torn between Ada and Ida and ultimately chose Ada, but Ida is still stunning.

SkaneTos · 22/12/2023 23:32

I love the name Ida!
It's common in Scandinavia where I'm from,
like @KateJW95 wrote we pronounce it "Eeda".
I'm 36 years old, and I went to school with three girls with the name Ida.

OliviaFlaversham · 22/12/2023 23:31

A Norwegian friend of mine is called Ida (Eeda) and I really like it. I can see how I’d could get lost in the Ada/Eva/Ava popularity but I don’t think as much so as the Emily/Amelie/Amelia set. It’s a great name.

Snugglemonkey · 22/12/2023 23:25

I love Ida.

Previousreligion · 22/12/2023 23:17

It's fine but I find it blends in with all the Ava/Eva/Adas I know.

Babyroobs · 22/12/2023 22:48

It's a lovely name.

theduchessofspork · 22/12/2023 22:47

I love it, and think it’s softer than Ada (which I do think is quite hard) - it’s not overused either - so use it quickly!
