I am so stuck. I have girls' names galore, please give me nice slightly arty boys' names that won't get hugely popular in a year or two

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Dante is coooooooool.

Nel mezzo del cammin.... [don't get me started!]

AussieDivaOnABreak · 16/03/2008 12:00

I really like Dante lalalonglegs, and I know what you mean about the pronounciation...I called my dd Ava and it took nonno and nonna ages to stop saying "Ahr-va". With an Italian surname it just seems to make sense to choose an Italian name (or one that ends in a vowel) so that it goes together. I also like Orlando but dh hates that.

lalalonglegs · 16/03/2008 11:52

My ds is called Dante as my family is Italian and I wanted a name that could be easily pronounced by everyone. He, however, is a Celtic-looking blonde and we definitely get strange looks when I call him out of the sandpit...

Boco · 16/03/2008 11:32

How about Lucien while we're going Freudy.

AussieDivaOnABreak · 16/03/2008 11:32

I'm thinking of Dante - although I do get strange looks whenever I mention it

ZippiBabes · 16/03/2008 11:32

your puppy has a lovely name 100

ahundredtimes · 16/03/2008 11:31

Our puppy has a silly name. I wish I'd seen this list a week ago. I might have called him Clay or Clem or Inigo even.

ZippiBabes · 16/03/2008 11:30

clement makes me think of clement freud

tho if you are young then that wont be an unfortunate associtaion you have

cadelaide · 16/03/2008 11:26

boco, that's an excellent shortlist.

i may need to have another child.

...or a puppy.

ahundredtimes · 16/03/2008 11:26

Clem is lovely. DS1 would have made a good Clem.

ahundredtimes · 16/03/2008 11:24

Yes, I know a lovely Wilf, is better than Wolf I think.

belgo · 16/03/2008 11:24

oh Boco got there first!

belgo · 16/03/2008 11:23

anyone mentioned:
Wolf(on our list)
Guy (on dh's list)

Boco · 16/03/2008 11:23

I love Ned.

My short list is therefore

  1. Wolfie
  2. Clement (Clem)
  3. Ned
  4. Gilbert (Gil)
  5. Wilfred
  6. Stanley
  7. Fox

Blimey i went to bed last night and this thread was going and i wake up this morning and its still rolling along

this is THE thread to save if you EVER want slightly hippy, funky or just plain bizarre names for boys ever...we need to start a girls one

now franny is deeply confused...you did ask franny

ahundredtimes · 16/03/2008 11:18

ahundredtimes · 16/03/2008 11:18

ahundredtimes · 16/03/2008 11:18

ahundredtimes · 16/03/2008 11:18

Paris

cadelaide · 16/03/2008 11:18

Of course it's inconceivable that F&Z doesn't like it.

Is she about, btw?

This thread seems to be rolling along nicely without her

cadelaide · 16/03/2008 11:16

Oh yes, that's a good one.

We liked Clement for ds but weren't brave enough as people didn't seem to like it (what fools we were, pfb you see).

We really regret not going for it now, that's why i'm sat here repeating it like a nutter.

Boco · 16/03/2008 11:11

Second Clement

And bring Roman.

cadelaide · 16/03/2008 11:10

I repeat.

Clement.

blueshoes · 16/03/2008 11:09

caesar

BBBee · 16/03/2008 11:04
