Welsh boy name suggestions for a brother to Rhys

We are at loggerheads! DH doesn't like my suggestions and I don't like his, so looking for everyone else's 😂.

My top one so far is Iestyn but I'm not 100% and I'm stumped on a middle name to go with. Ideally would like a Welsh first name. I'm not sure if anyone can make any suggestions, as there isn't 1000s to choose from! 🤦‍♀️

To be fair, most of the names mentioned on this thread are ones that are fairly common names for young children in my area, which is as Cymraeg as they come.

I've always loved Gethin, would go well with Rhys because of the strong G sound

Strange name to give a child. The surname seems to be found mainly in North West England. The word comes from middle english.

Garth is a Welsh word but the name/surname isn't Welsh.
I'd imagine that the SE Ieuan's parents use the anglicised pronunciation.

Then you would imagine wrong. It is pronounced the Welsh way by family and friends. I assume Welsh ancestry, though I haven't asked.

I'm trying to figure if OP wants a welsh name that works outside Wales or with maybe one side of the family not from Wales. From the OP, I got the impression that she or he wasn't a Welsh speaker in the Fro Gymraeg.

There are plenty of names to choose from, but not all will work outside Wales e.g. Llyr, Ynyr, Pwyll, Illtud

Of course, yes. Makes perfect sense! So used to seeing Evan that didn't consider it should be Efan. Ifan was in school with my eldest. Along with a Ioan, Iestyn & Ieuan! 😊

No they’re 2 different names. Efan is like Evan but kind of like Ev- van not Ev- un if that makes sense

ifan is like Ee van

no idea if that makes sense. They’re similar but not the same. The first letter sounds are Eh for Efan and eee for ifan
