Aurora's Sisters Name

In 2022, I had a stillborn baby. Her name is Aurora after sleeping beauty, as I found myself calling her "my sleeping beauty". I'm currently 28 weeks with our rainbow baby girl. We are so exited for her, but we are really struggling with her name. We were almost going to call Aurora, Willa Louise but when she was born Aurora seemed a better fit so we went with that. But it feels super wrong if we were to call this little girl Willa Louise, as if its tied to Aurora and I don't want this little girl to live in Aurora's shadow. I cannot for the life of me find another name I like. What would you name a sister for Aurora Blythe? 💗

Clara was the first name I thought of when I read the title and before reading the comments

@SerenityNowInsanityLater - Aww thank you for your condolences. It really is lovely of you! Your story behind your daughters name is so lovely, I'm so sorry for the loss of her little sister.

@Doublebiscuit77 - Clara Melissa is super sweet, I love that!

@octoberfarm - Madeleine is lovely, I'll run it past my husband!

I'm so incredibly sorry for your loss Flowers I think Clara is beautiful. For another suggestion, the first name I thought of when I saw your OP was Madeline.

DesertSnow · 18/12/2023 17:11

I'm so sorry for your loss. Melissa and Clara are both lovely

My husband is also the pickiest person ever! He agrees with me that Willa and Louise are now sadly out of the question as they are far too tied to Aurora for us. But the only name I could get him to agree with is Willa, however he did agree with Aurora when I suggested it when we saw her. But he does like Melissa and Lena @Doublebiscuit77 so I take that as a huge win!

Oh that's good! I see from the updates you may be starting to like Clara - Clara Melissa isn't bad. You may well know when you meet her.

That’s what happened with my own DD’s name, OP. My ex-H (our split had nothing to do with naming our DD! 😆) loved one particular name that I was OK with but it wasn’t a name I could see myself using. But he kept coming back to it, and it really grew on me. I really love DD’s name. She’s almost 14 now and I’m always so happy we called her DH’s chosen name. It has such meaning, which came to mean more to our family after we lost her little sister. I really understand and am so sorry for your loss and all that you’ve been through. The child that follows such loss really brings such hope and light into our lives again. I wish you love and all the very best.

@SerenityNowInsanityLater - don't worry! Seeing more people like it is actually strangely helpful. He keeps coming back to it, and the more he asks the more I like it.

@HardcoreLadyType - he does! He actually came up with Willa! He has also said many others (Clara, Alice, Romy and Lily ect) I like all of these just not enough to use them on my own child. But yes he is very good at coming up with ideas!

Estella Joy

HardcoreLadyType · 18/12/2023 16:20

Melissa Lena sounds a bit weird in that order, (like one long name with no
break) but Lena Melissa sounds better.

You could call her Melissa, either way.

RoséProsecco · 18/12/2023 16:19

Aurelia?

HardcoreLadyType · 18/12/2023 16:18

Melissa is very pretty and not widely used these days. And not at all similar to Aurora, Willa or Louise.

You say your DH is picky - does he come up with any suggestions?

FayCarew · 18/12/2023 16:14

Melissa is lovely.
