WDYT of Cade?

I’m normally more of a traditionalist but I’ve fallen in love. It sounds great with our surname, as well as our chosen middle name which is my fathers name.

Any initial thoughts?

It is nice but I was bullied by a girl named cade all throughout secondary school so just associate it with horribleness 🙈

Charlie2121 · 15/12/2023 00:19

It sounds made up and chavvy. Avoid.

I think it’s awful, and of the Kayden/Jayden
/Kyle school of naming which is not necessarily a helpful vibe.

But it takes all sorts. He could be friends with little Kylian on the other thread.

This. It sounds like an American hillbilly name, sorry.

AsanteSana · 15/12/2023 00:14

Hmmm....depends upon whether or not you believe in fate. In farming parlance a 'cade' lamb is one which has been orphaned and is either bottle reared or fostered onto a ewe who has lost one of her own lambs. Just a thought

It sounds like a surname to me so I'm not keen.

I have only ever known one person with the first name Cade and she's very unpleasant so that has re-enforced my dislike of the name.

DGHZ · 15/12/2023 00:10

Oh I love it! Sounds lovely and actually wonder why it isn’t used more. People on here will hate it, it’s not in the top 50 and isn’t your williams or your Edwards🤣

Pumpkintopf · 15/12/2023 00:10

Shades of Cade Langmore in Ozark. Has that deliverance type of vibe.
But it's your choice!

TheShellBeach · 15/12/2023 00:07

Male or female?
Anyway, it's a surname.

Extrasprinklesplz · 15/12/2023 00:07

I have only ever known of 2, both had never met anybody else with their names.
I always quite liked it but not so much these days, it just hits differently with all the Kaydens running around now.

Whataretheodds · 15/12/2023 00:05

Pronounced to rhyme with shade/fade/made?

I'm not familiar with it. Sounds a bit odd to me.

I must admit that I have never heard the name Cade, neither as a surname nor a first name (I am not from the UK though).

If you like it, you should use it!

AuntieStella · 14/12/2023 20:32

It's not my style of name. But I think it's OK
