Help narrowing down name choices

Hi guys,

I'm due any day now and need some help narrowing down our baby name list. We don't know what we are having. It's our third child. We already have a William and an Ella. If we have middle name ideas I've popped them in brackets. Would love opinions and open to different middle name suggestions too.

Girl choices:
Alice (Evelyn)
Ivy (Beatrice)
Rose (Vivienne)
Ava_

Boy choices:_
Archie (Edward)
Oscar
Edward
Henry

Thanks in advance xx

Alice and Edward would be my preference

Alice,Rose,Edward,Henry.

Same here.

SequinsandStiIettos · 16/12/2023 11:23

Rosalind?

SequinsandStiIettos · 16/12/2023 11:18

As for nn
Yes, you could end up with Will, Elle and Al but it's not the worst thing in the world.

SequinsandStiIettos · 16/12/2023 11:16

Alice - classic and fits well with the other two
Ivy - I prefer Holly or Christa
Archie - is lovely

Archie/Edward/Henry are all Crown names though

SequinsandStiIettos · 16/12/2023 11:09

William, Ella and Rose
William Ella and Henry

Thanks everyone for your opinions it helps to have some fresh eyes looking at the list.

I feel like these names are all lovely but I see potential problems with all of the them. I've added a bit of my thoughts on each name to show you where I'm at with it. Am I other thinking it?
Girl choices:
Alice (Evelyn) - love Alice think it’s a great fit, only concern - is it too similar in sound to Ella. We don’t use nicknames but I know you have no control over this once they get to school. What if they become Elle and Ally / Al? Very similar!
Ivy (Beatrice) - think it’s a good fit with the siblings and nice link to a Christmas baby, but am very surprised it’s now 7th on the popularity polls. I’ve not come across any but worry as soon as we choose it, there will be hundreds of them. Also now have it in my head that it may be a bit too trendy rather than a classic which is what we are after.
Rose (Vivienne) - lovely but doesn’t fit as well with the others and really wouldn’t want her to get Rosie!
Ava - agree it's too similar to Ella and is now off the list!

Boy choices:Archie (Edward) - my hubbys favourite. Think it sounds lovely with the siblings but really not keen on ‘ie’ name endings. Feels like it’s too much of a nickname, can’t see him as a grown up.
Oscar - like it again but don’t love. Is there a nickname I’m not seeing?
Edward - nice but wouldn’t want a Ted or teddy as know this is very popular.
Henry - is it too royal sounding with a William already?
Are these problems are am I overthinking everything due to the crazy imminent pressure of baby arriving any minute! Xmas Confused
Thanks again xx

I'd go with Alice and Edward

redlavender · 13/12/2023 14:19

I like Alice.

Your boys names are far too fashionable (and likely to sound dated soon) for me personally

Suchardchoccy · 13/12/2023 14:01

I have a Rose so I am biased 😍
We're also thinking about naming our third daughter Ivy!

I'm sorry but there are literally millions of Avas everywhere it's so common

Theoldwoman · 13/12/2023 13:59

I love Alice, however it’s too close to Ella imo.
Edward is my favourite boys name.
Edward Jeremy?

Seeing as William and Ella both have the double LL, here’s some suggestions to keep it going …

Tallulah
Lucille
Millicent
Lillian
Callie
Isabelle
Hillary
Danielle

Mitchell
Elliott

SquigglePigs · 13/12/2023 13:42

Girl choices:
Alice (Evelyn) - I think this is lovely and goes well
Ivy (Beatrice) - this is lovely and works well too
Rose (Vivienne) - this feels a bit different to the others but is nice enough (not keen in Vivienne though)
Ava - I think this works well with William but is too similar to Ella

Boy choices: - I think all your boys names work well with William and Ella. Oscar is pretty popular at the mo, just in case that bothers you.
Archie (Edward)
Oscar
Edward
Henry

NotFastButFurious · 13/12/2023 08:30

Your names are all lovely but William, Ella and Alice is quite a mouthful to say outloud!
I think William, Ella and Beatrice work best if you'd use that as a first name. Beatrice Ivy is cute.

dontforgetme · 13/12/2023 08:15

I like Ivy and Henry from your lists. I love the name Henry.

user1492757084 · 13/12/2023 08:13

My favourites from your ideas ..

Rose Vivienne
and
Henry Archibald
Oscar Edward

William, Ella and Rose or Henry or Oscar.

mathanxiety · 12/12/2023 21:50

I love Alice Evelyn and Ivy Beatrice.

I like all the boy name choices except Archie.

theduchessofspork · 12/12/2023 21:24

Alice Evelyn or Oscar Edward

Ava is too similar to Ella so I’d knock that out.

They are all nice names though

TomatoSandwiches · 12/12/2023 20:56

Alice or Henry

DesertSnow · 12/12/2023 20:55

Alice goes well with William and Ella as it echoes the 'l'.

Henry I think goes best of your boy list.

User6761 · 12/12/2023 20:51

Rose or Oscar

HuntingoftheSnark · 12/12/2023 16:39

I like all your names but absolutely love Alice and Henry.

tokesqueen · 12/12/2023 16:25

I only like Edward.
Love Rosa though (but not Rose).
Would personally avoid Ava and Archie. Too many of both.

Doublebiscuit77 · 12/12/2023 15:58

Rose Beatrice
Ava Beatrice
(I really like Marianne, Penelope and Francesca as middle names too)

Not sure why, but despite knowing some great Alices, I'm not a fan of the name.

I like Oscar, but it is incredibly popular round here. Edward or Henry would be my pick. I like Edmund better than Edward though.

Mumofgirls2017 · 12/12/2023 15:38

Alice or ivy, Edward or henry

martinisforeveryone · 12/12/2023 10:12

Contrary, I actually like Beatrice Vivienne. For a boy I’d choose Edward because it’s a good name for all ages.
