Baby arriving in 8 weeks, still haven't settled on a name. Came across this one and found it interesting. What do you think of it? Thanks

Ive always rather liked Antonella, which has the same vibes but easier to say and spell.

GasDrivenNun · 02/12/2023 15:13

Isn't it a type of Ferraro Rocher chocolate?

Angrycat2768 · 02/12/2023 14:56

Love it, and Raffi as a nickname.

Gloschick · 02/12/2023 14:54

I know a French lady called Raphaëlle which I've always thought was pretty.

Sounds like Paella

ReadtheReviews · 02/12/2023 13:49

One of my all time favourite names. Raphaella or Rafaela...love both.

MerryChristmasToYou · 02/12/2023 13:41

Oh, and there was me thinking you were a Portia after Port Vale! Nic(h)ola is OK.

@MerryChristmasToYou

No!

St Nichols in Aberdeenshire 😊

Baublewarble · 01/12/2023 22:12

It’s the white ferrero rocher isn’t it?

Rafello I think 🤔

MerryChristmasToYou · 02/12/2023 13:33

@BebbanburgIsMine , not Crewe Alexandra then.

MerryChristmasToYou · 02/12/2023 13:30

@theduchessofspork , the ae makes it difficult to say. It gets said as Raffa-Yella not Raffa-Ella.

Like Isabel, Isobel and Isabelle, or Catherine, Katherine, Katharine and Kathryn you mean?! No, not quite, and you forgot Cathryn

If you have several vowels they get transposed, as in Raffealla.

It is a big deal when it's your name.

They won’t It could be Raphaella, Rafaela, Raphaela, Raffaella etc.
There's an author called Raffaella Barker and I've seen her first written Raffealla

It’s not at all hard to pronounce, it’s got a few spelling variations as quite a few names do - people will spell it slightly wrong sometimes, it’s not a huge deal.

Love it. There's one at work who's called Raff.

ElizaMulvil · 02/12/2023 01:36

No and far too difficult for her to spell aged 5 - and everyone else in her life will be always asking her how to pronounce and/or spell it. I had a 'difficult' name and it was a pain.

They won’t

Raphael is a popular boys name right now, Raphaela just has an a on the end

It’s no different from Philip and Philippa

MerryChristmasToYou · 02/12/2023 12:41

Raphaella is bordering on Ottilie-Annabelle-Theodora flouncy trendy territory
The upper border.

sensationalsally · 02/12/2023 12:02

love it

sillnotseal · 02/12/2023 11:56

Rafaela spelling is better- it just looks so much cooler

MerryChristmasToYou · 02/12/2023 11:52

Too frilly and people tend to say it as Raffa Yella. Raffi is dreadful.
She'll be just another Ella.

caringcarer · 02/12/2023 11:35

A pretty name but be prepared for her to be called Raffa by friends.

BlackJumpsuit · 02/12/2023 11:08

There's an amazing flamenco dancer called Rafaela Carrasco.

Love it, could be Raffi, or Ella as a shortened version

KnittedCardi · 02/12/2023 10:01

Just to add, I have a long Italianate name, also popular in Germany. Yes, it can be a pain to spell it out continually, but literally everyone, ever, even now, comments on how lovely it is, which is kind of nice. It always makes me smile.
