Down to 3 but so unsure - due soon!

Me and DH have narrowed our options down to 3 names, and we don’t have long to go. We want to have her name sorted before she’s here!

We both like the 3 we have left from our shortlist: Irina, Alexandra and Maria.

Middle name is likely to be Elizabeth, and in the event we don’t go with Alexandra, DH is considering using both Elizabeth and Alexandra as middles.

Siblings are Kristina and Nikolai!

They all work perfect. See what she looks like on the day

Daisybuttercup12345 · 02/12/2023 00:06

Alexandra Elizabeth Irina.
Congratulations x

shoopshoopdedoo · 02/12/2023 00:03

I like them all. Love Irina, but possibly not with Kristina. Love Alexandra/Sasha Elizabeth ❤️

spicyenchilada · 30/11/2023 00:15

Irina sounds better with the sibset

Ponderingwindow · 29/11/2023 17:52

If you have it down to 3, I wouldn’t worry about finalizing. We had a 3 name shortlist. The second we saw dd we both knew her name.

i was really glad we had not picked a name because I think we would have likely picked the wrong one. It would not have suited her at all.

orangeginaa · 29/11/2023 17:50

I rarely think this on mumsnet but all of your choices sound lovely. Not helpful but hopefully reassuring!

ReviewingTheSituation · 29/11/2023 17:47

I have a lovely friend called Masha (Maria). A beautiful name. Go with that!

DesertSnow · 29/11/2023 17:32

I think Irina is too similar to Kristina. It sounds like your DH is keen on Alexandra? So I'd probably go with that. But they're all nice!

neleh87 · 29/11/2023 16:44

I love all 3 but Maria was my nan's name and I think it's lovely. I also taught a lovely girl called Maria.

I had 2 names for baby and I just called him a different one each day until one stuck

christmascracker77 · 29/11/2023 16:37

Yes, we are Russian.

For each name we’d hope to use Masha for Maria, Sasha for Alexandra and Ira/Ina for Irina.

My problem with Alexandra is I don’t really like Alex as a NN. I was originally going to name Nikolai Alexander, but the Alex problem popped up there too, and Sasha would probably be seen as strange for a boy in the UK.

I’m not too bothered with Irina rhyming slightly, it was only after this post I thought about it! With Nikolai there was a space between Kristina and Irina and I didn’t realise it could sound similar 😂

Maria (Maria Elizabeth Alexandra)

Vittoriosa · 29/11/2023 10:19

Irina!

KatPatPat · 29/11/2023 10:08

Irina Alexandra Elizabeth gets my vote

MargotBamborough · 29/11/2023 09:54

They are all nice names but I love Alexandra.

steppemum · 29/11/2023 09:47

I like Irina best ( I speak Russian so imagine it said in a Russian way which I love).
I wouldn't worry about the Irina Kristina thing, I don't think it really matters.
I am not keen on Maria, but do liek the diminuative Masha, I also love Sasha short for Alexandra.

So any of the 3!

TheBirdintheCave · 29/11/2023 09:39

I like Irina the best but not with Kristina. Maria would be my next choice :)

eleah · 29/11/2023 09:29

Maria

ZenNudist · 29/11/2023 09:22

Maria is the best
Also like Alexandra
Didn't like Irina but it goes well with your other names but it's not a good reason to choose a name.

urbanbuddha · 29/11/2023 08:51

Alexandra

MissBuffyAnneSummers · 29/11/2023 08:49

Love Alexandra Elizabeth

Maria is ok

Don't like Irina

Goodornot · 29/11/2023 08:48

Alexandra Elizabeth is just the best. So regal.

Her late Majesty's name was Elizabeth Alexandra Mary.

All2Well · 29/11/2023 08:46

I like Alexandra Elizabeth.

Lifeinlists · 29/11/2023 08:45

Alexandra with any of your other names in the middle.

Mumofgirls2017 · 29/11/2023 08:40

Maria!

daisypond · 29/11/2023 08:35

pacora · 29/11/2023 08:25

Confused. How is Masha a shortened version of Maria?? Masha sounds like mashed potatoes.

Masha is a normal shortening/pet form of Maria in Russian and probably some other Slavic languages too. I know a few.
