I’ve just found out that I’m expecting a baby girl (after 2 boys). We have loads of boy names that we agree on but very few girl names that we both like, and none that we both love.

Names we both like include:
Isla
Evelyn
Aerin/Erin
Alexandra
Esther
Flora
Josephine
Cecelia
Ferne
Adeline/Aveline
Florence
Laurel

I love:
Cicely
Celeste
Serena
Viviana
Clara
Flora
Cassia
Marina
Claudine
Yvette
Sylvia/Sylvie
Violet
Coralie/Coraline

He has much more conservative taste and basically likes the names of girls I was at primary school with (Jessica, Chloe, Sarah, Abigail, Charlotte, Catherine).

Any ideas for names that we might both like! I feel like we’ve considered every name in the world and nothing seems right for both of us.

I'd pick Erin, Alexandra or Josephine from your top list. Clara from your second list if your husband also likes it.

A lot of names on your second list say "60 year old French woman" to me.

Alexandra is lovely, I know one with middle name Niamh. Goes by Alex though so if you don’t like that shortening it might be worth considering, just in case.

Other suggestions:
Estelle
Stella

My friend called her baby Tawny. Very sweet

DuckDuckGoose23 · 08/12/2023 08:20

Thank you for all your ideas! A lot of them we’d already considered and liked but we already have close friends/family who’ve used them or they’re too similar to the names of our older boys.
At the moment I think Alexandra is the front runner and then DH has agreed to let me choose something more unusual for the middle name!
