Jacqueline

Thoughts on Jacqueline for a baby girl?
It's my mum's name and I also think it sounds very pretty. Middle name would be rose.

I don't know any young girls called Jacqueline though so does it come across as old ladyish? Tried searching on Mumsnet for Jacqueline threads but they're all about the author Jacqueline Wilson which is unusual because it seems there's at least one thread for every other name. So does this mean no one is naming their daughter Jacqueline?

It's a lovely name .

Branleuse · 24/11/2023 07:24

I love it.particularly Jackie.

PolliFlinders · 24/11/2023 07:24

I love it, the youngest one I know is 30. All the better for not being overused.

Fannyfiggs · 24/11/2023 07:23

I prefer Jacquelyn but either way I like it.

Ladypugs60 · 24/11/2023 07:19

My friends DGD (7) is called after her great grandmother Josephine which is a similar era to Jacqueline, it's never shortened to Josie or Jo.
I think they are both lovely classic names, go for it!

kneehightoacat · 24/11/2023 07:12

I remember getting the Jackie annual for Christmas as a kid

crostini · 24/11/2023 07:00

Its gorgeous. Would be lovely on a little girl.

AceofPentacles · 24/11/2023 06:01

Nope I wouldn't

Appleblum · 24/11/2023 04:38

It's a nice name but all the Jacquelines I know are either Jacs or Jackies.

chrispenrallt1 · 24/11/2023 04:09

My mother was a Barbara christened in 1928. She was always Barbara never Barb or Barbie . My cousins called her Auntie B as they got older . My brother has named his yacht after her

DifficultBloodyWoman · 24/11/2023 03:43

Both a classic and uncommon name. I don’t think it is quite in the Barbara category due to Jackie Kennedy, Jacqueline Bisset and Jacklyn Smith

Jacqueline Rose goes beautifully together.

Althenameshavegone · 24/11/2023 03:42

I think it’s a classic that can work on any generation, the one I know are in 30s and 60s and of course writer Jacquline Wilson.Jackie/Jacqui is a nice shortening. Always surprised it’s not as popular now.

Jacqueline is a smart and pretty.
I love Jacquie and Jackie too.
Jacqueline Rose goes well.

Ittastesvile · 23/11/2023 22:12

I love it and it was on my list.

theduchessofspork · 23/11/2023 22:02

I like it but the problem is Jackie, which isn’t nice at all, so I wouldn’t

How about Genevieve?

ReadtheReviews · 23/11/2023 17:29

It's quite a harsh, dated name. Imagine a perm and a pointy nose.

CurlewKate · 23/11/2023 17:25

@TheBirdintheCave Really? I must have misread Darkgreener!

Greatfull · 23/11/2023 17:20

Love it

17caterpillars1mouse · 23/11/2023 15:12

I like it. It has a classy retro feel to it in the same way I feel Pamela does and Felicity (though Felicity seems to have risen to popularity again).

I don't think it's dated and having a well recognised but not very often uses name is a good thing in my book

Blinkityblonk · 23/11/2023 15:09

I'm not crazy about Jackie, which is what you'd probably end up with. Not terrible, the longer name, but too many shortenings.

TheBirdintheCave · 23/11/2023 15:08

CurlewKate · 23/11/2023 15:06

None in the UK since 2017-so genuinely unique! I think it's lovely. Go for it!

There were 22 born in England and Wales in 2021.

Get back to the 80s where you belong Jacqueline!!
Any around my age (40) go by nic names.

menopausalmare · 23/11/2023 15:00

Lovely and not old ladyish at all.

It’s a lovely names, I wouldn’t worry about misspellings as people will learn.

I'm guessing you don't have a name that people misspell or mispronounce 😂 even my French teacher mangled it due to her extremely strong West Yorkshire accent 😂
