Slightly piggy backing off another thread in this topic but just really curious about this.

Obviously we've all heard of some very unusual suggestions on this site and we can all think of a celeb that's opted for something very unique but in your day to day life what would you say is most unusual you've come across?

For me it'd probably be Maverick for a boy and Lavender-Lily for a girl.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Banana. I am absolutely 100% not kidding!! For a NN they called her 'Nana' - I met the Mum in a Park and just had to ask, she was actually a really lovely lady and said she named her daughter after her pregnancy craving! Mine would be Coco-Pop in that case Grin

Loveday is a fab name!

StampOnTheGround · 21/11/2023 20:57

Little girl called Tequila. Boys called Fable and Clay.

I used to work at a university which attracted lots of overseas students, particularly from China. Often the Chinese students would choose an English “name”, but often it was just a word rather than a name, like the first thing they saw when they arrived in the UK. Some of those were very unusual.

I’ve taught plenty of students called things like Bliss, Precious, King who were mainly Nigerian.

Loveahobby · 21/11/2023 20:56

@princefamilypaper no it’s A for Adley, her brother is Navy..

Pallisers · 21/11/2023 20:56

I worked with someone whose sons were Stetson and Maverick. Can't remember what his daughters were called.

I know a baby boy called Lucky.

Some of these are lovely. Silvercup for example.

I went to primary school with a boy called Aneas which the teacher used to pronounce “Ay-nas”

I remember my parents sniggering about it for years afterwards.
“Ay-nas! Sit down please!” “Ay-nas!! Stop that!”

gyl2000 · 21/11/2023 20:54

Meceme · 21/11/2023 20:53

After 30 years in teaching loads - some absolutely stunning, others not so much to my taste but as we have a Tiplady and Trulove in the family (both male) Im in no position to judge.

olivialennox · 21/11/2023 20:48

Pebbles, Enzo, Fable, Dodge, Fox

Someone was in take a break magazine a while back about their daughter named Lanesra by her DH

Pandoralovegood · 21/11/2023 20:48

Bobby-blue

Maerchentante · 21/11/2023 20:45

Someone I went to school with named her children David Rayn and Angel Lee. Not so bad by the looks of it, but they are in Germany, insisting on an "English" pronounciation while barely being able to speak English themselves.
Sounds more like Defit and Enchel.

noodlezoodle · 21/11/2023 20:44

Dimple. Impossible not to smile at that name, it's lovely.

princefamilypaper · 21/11/2023 20:44

@olivialennox funny you should say that because I met one today in a toddler class! Shortened to fay which was a shame though

Honeyblossom is a character in the Isadora Moon series of kids’ books! I bet that’s where they got it from.

itsatravestyy · 21/11/2023 20:41

itsatravestyy · 21/11/2023 20:40

I’ve worked with a Dr called Unique spelled very creatively. Got a few raised eyebrows from patients but she was great.

Farmageddon · 21/11/2023 20:40

The weirdest name I ever came across was a cat called Ian. Poor thing.
