Slightly piggy backing off another thread in this topic but just really curious about this.

Obviously we've all heard of some very unusual suggestions on this site and we can all think of a celeb that's opted for something very unique but in your day to day life what would you say is most unusual you've come across?

For me it'd probably be Maverick for a boy and Lavender-Lily for a girl.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I once saw a woman chasing a small child around a park shouting “Zebedee”

Time for bed! Grin

TedandRebecca4eva · 22/11/2023 01:27

Marley and Hendrix twins
Unique for a girl and China

When I was in primary school a boy in my class had a sister called Mystery. I thought it was so cool. His name was Allan!

Hope that wasn't a comment on her parentage!

Gruff Justice.

A weedy little lad in DS's class. Sounded like he was a film character played by Arnold Schwarzenegger but he was never going to be able to live up to the hype. Poor kid!

Dimple is the name of an Indian actress. She has a sister called Simple and daughters called Twinkle and Rinkle (who goes by Rinke).

The most unusual I know is probably a friend called Spring, named after the season. Any other season name seems ok but Spring still feels odd to me.

Flash Gordon. Boy in my DSIS's class at school. Grin

GasDrivenNun · 21/11/2023 23:19

Monserrat was a girl in my bother's primary class.

TitInATrance · 21/11/2023 22:55

Cortina (she’d be 60s now). Hendrix. Jezebel. Candida.

Shroedy · 21/11/2023 22:51

@KingsleyBorder I made the same comment upthread re Chlorophyll and Photosynthesis 😁

marshmallowfinder · 21/11/2023 22:50

Pepper.

I’ve had negative reactions to two of my children’s names. One of those negative reactions was from a woman called Merlin who exclaimed at how ‘weird’ my daughter’s name is (it really isn’t) and certainly nowhere near as unusual and rarely used as Merlin!

I also know of a Hunni-Blossom, she goes by blossom now.
And I looked after a child called Labia when I worked at a nursery when younger, she must be about 18 now.

Misty Temple and Misanthrope Joseph

Misty Temple is an amazing name!

HeyNando · 21/11/2023 22:41

Had a (male) teaching assistant named Blade.

And taught twins who were named One and Two.

Michael, doesn’t sound too bad until
you hear that his surname was also Michael. The guy was called Michael Michael. I really wanted to ask if he had a middle name..

I knew a Michael Michael. His dad owned a corner shop in Highgate.

Someone I know called her little girl Blossom. It's very cute when she's a baby, but I just don't think it'll age well with her.

I also know somebody who called their DD Blossom. I think it's awful

Awaanbileyirheid · 21/11/2023 22:34

Went to school with two brothers Conan and Thor.
I do also know a Pocahontas Maguire tho she changed her name once adult.
Neveah, she hates it tho. Tarquin.
Jaxon-John. Lee-Jaxxon, Jaxx-Lee (these kids are all babies and in same family so bit confusing!)

Trixiefirecracker · 21/11/2023 22:31

I know a Sparkle! I love the name now.

Chlorophyll

Chlorohyll Yip, the Hong Kong lawyer? Well known there. Her sister is called Photosynthesis Yip I believe.

Depends how you define unusual. I don't know any. That would make it unusual. They're just also perfectly acceptable names.

Fair enough. I know two of each so they didn't seem unusual.

However, I've never met any Jaydens or Kaydens, for instance, so maybe they are unusual.

ladygindiva · 21/11/2023 22:27

Stopsmotheringmeeeeeee · 21/11/2023 21:55

@ladygindiva you don't have a daughter called Honeybee do you? 😁

I'm not that brave 🤣

ManchesterLu · 21/11/2023 22:21

Wolfgang.

MooseBreath · 21/11/2023 22:17

Breigha
Gerbrig
Kashanna
Tyanne
Yolanda

None of them bad, just unusual in an English-speaking culture.

VenusInfers · 21/11/2023 22:14

@AppleDumplingWithCustard
Not in person but visiting the memorial to the first pilgrim immigrants to Plymouth MA, one of the children was called Wrestling.

It was probably short for Wrestling With The Devil, or similar. Good, puritan name!

Medusaismyhero · 21/11/2023 22:11

Not a weird name as such but there's a family local to us who all have the same first name - think John Smith. So the dad is John Smith and the male children (now adults) are all John Smith too. So old John, big John, young John, fat John etc. I wish I was lying.
