Weirdest name you've encountered in real life?

Slightly piggy backing off another thread in this topic but just really curious about this.

Obviously we've all heard of some very unusual suggestions on this site and we can all think of a celeb that's opted for something very unique but in your day to day life what would you say is most unusual you've come across?

For me it'd probably be Maverick for a boy and Lavender-Lily for a girl.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I went to school with a Sorrel, I wonder if she’s the one mentioned upthread.. (She would be around 40 now).

Due to appalling education standards though, I have met people who think that names like Persephone and Hermione are 'made up' names. An incredible number think that J K Rowling invented Hermione...

I love some of the Greek Myth names (but have not been sufficiently bold as to use them for any of my children).

I know of brothers who both have middle names named after Transformers ...
Optimus and Rodimus

MariaLuna · 22/11/2023 11:36

Years ago I met someone with the surname Cunt. He's not British.

Maerchentante · 22/11/2023 11:32

Okay, it is from a German "Fly on the wall" TV show of an indeterminate age but this family has 14 kids

Ulrike
Barbara
Chris-Frank
Maja
Thore
Samantha
Rambo Ramon Rainer
Angel
Dwight
Xena
Gandolf Merlin
Odin Jens Junior
Dragon Dinoso Degen
Hajo Donovan Benvenuto

The first two have slightly old fashioned names and some have normal-ish names, but after Samantha they went completely bonkers

Unfortunately, for Chris-Frank the family name is also Franck.

The mention of drag queen names reminded me that there's a drag queen called Jujubee whose real first name is Airline.

DeedIDo · 22/11/2023 09:03

I have known a Labia, and a Maverick.

Also a little boy called Flint.

GigaHearts · 22/11/2023 08:59

Precious, knowledge, honour. A family beside us at the beach one year.

AQuantityOfNaughtyCats · 22/11/2023 08:57

I met an Iona Hill 😂.

ButtonDownBev · 22/11/2023 08:52

I also used to work with someone called Theresa Green

Deborah54 · 22/11/2023 08:37

My late mother fostered a child in 1985 called Cellnet. The child’s mother had seen the name on the side of a bus and loved it.
Thank God she omitted the BT before Cellnet. I think Social Services changed her name.

Yes, @AQuantityOfNaughtyCats — it’s actually hilarious people are trotting out urban legends that have been thoroughly debunked and expecting people to believe them. It does make me wonder about their general intelligence, though. They’re presumably the kind of people who think something is true because someone said it on the internet, so they can claim they actually witnessed the registration of La-a, or taught Pocahontas?

A friend of mine did teach a Kylie O’Reilly as a student teacher, which both sounds slightly mad in a cheery way, and slightly like a drag queen name.

@ladygindiva ah my ones are teenagers now! TBF I think Zephaniah is an awesome name. Zeph is a great NN.

I agree, Zephaniah is fabulous

I do also know a Pocahontas Maguire tho she changed her name once adult.

I'm crying laughing at this one! It's the juxtaposition

There is a boy called Hatchet in DD's class.

I thought Pocahontas McGuinty was another urban myth along with La-a. To those of you who know a Pocahontas- do you really really know one or is it a cousin of a friend?!

Chlorohyll Yip, the Hong Kong lawyer? Well known there. Her sister is called Photosynthesis Yip I believe.

No- this was in the UK.

I know a Zoltan! He's Hungarian, and apparently it's quite a common name there. He's a fabulous guy and really carries it off.

Think the one I met was Russian/american. It’s a powerful moniker!

Lariah. Daughter to a huge Mariah Carey fan who was married to a man named Larry and wanted a unique name honouring them both.

Story.
But it grows on me a lot the more I think about it!

Similar, I know someone called Rumer. I thought it was strange at first but I have grown to love it. And she is a beautiful person, so that helps!
