Weirdest name you've encountered in real life?

Slightly piggy backing off another thread in this topic but just really curious about this.

Obviously we've all heard of some very unusual suggestions on this site and we can all think of a celeb that's opted for something very unique but in your day to day life what would you say is most unusual you've come across?

For me it'd probably be Maverick for a boy and Lavender-Lily for a girl.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

You didn’t say ‘unusual’, your thread title says ‘weird’.

Sniggery bollocks.

Either way the point still stands that if you're easily triggered by someone not liking the same name as you then why would you click on a thread like this. The blame for any upset lies squarely with the person who chose to see something they know would upset them.

@SoupDragon 'unusual' doesn't always equal 'laughable'. It's just a name not widely used. The opposite of the Olivia's and Noah's.

I'd imagine that anyone sensitive to the opinions of others regarding a name they might like would simply not click on the thread. Can't really complain when you go looking for something to be upset about.

Dre
Lemmy
Babyjane (really!!)
George One and George Two (they were twins)
I thought Panacea was weird until I discovered it is an actual Greek name . Person had a Scottish surname - think Macdonald or similar. Sometimes it's all about context.

George One and George Two - that's hilarious. Did the parents not know they were having twins? Speaks of - I'm shellshocked, exhausted, and I just can't...even....

Rosamund Pike's boys: Solo and Atom.

Song.

Easily the most interesting thing about a woman who is possibly one of the dullest people I have ever met.

bakewellbride · 23/11/2023 17:21

At swimming today I overheard a mum calling her son Dusky.

Thor (what if he grows up a weed?) or has a lisp?
Lakota
Siobhan - perfectly normal Irish name but her parents insisted it be pronounced as it was spelt so 'Cee O Barn'

I know an adult Thor, really nice guy, he was on a episode of The Chase.

As for Cee O Bahn - the Irish part of me is cringing.

Nezuko · 23/11/2023 08:44

A iranian lady I know named her daughter Uranus, I wish I was joking (apparently her name is pronounced as oo-ra-noos in farsi, still can't help but think about how much she'll probably get taunted at school for it)

An unwanted child whose mother named WhyMe. Very sad. He later changed it to Joel.

My children also went to nursery with siblings called Box and Scooter.

MIL (in her 80's) went to school with a girl named Elgar! Odd enough now but in the 1950s - poor lass.

Anakin, Obi, Isambard (he's known as Izzy).
Siblings - Neo & Trinity
I also know a baby called Kevin

I went to school with a Sorrel, I wonder if she’s the one mentioned upthread.. (She would be around 40 now).

Sorrel was a character in a Noel Coward play and became popular name for a while in the 1920s I believe!

Wurlitzer. According to the father "he was conceived up against one". Lovely.

My late father went to school with a girl called Hazel Nutt.

There was a chap on a TV quiz show just recently who told the host that he had two children, a boy and a girl called Evan and Elle. I hope he was joking.

I used to teach a moonbeam and rainbow (they were siblings) I do wonder if they changed their adults!
