Weirdest name you've encountered in real life?

Slightly piggy backing off another thread in this topic but just really curious about this.

Obviously we've all heard of some very unusual suggestions on this site and we can all think of a celeb that's opted for something very unique but in your day to day life what would you say is most unusual you've come across?

For me it'd probably be Maverick for a boy and Lavender-Lily for a girl.

Zoltan, with an equally impressive surname. I didn’t take it as an excuse to laugh, I thought it was a magnificent name.

unless this thread means most common or likely to be preceded by „get here“ in a supermarket.

I know a Zoltan! He's Hungarian, and apparently it's quite a common name there. He's a fabulous guy and really carries it off.

Ibizabar · 21/11/2023 19:38

Some of these names are not even weird though. Names like Bliss, Precious, True are very common in some communities.

Lavender Lake
Rainy which is fine but not with the surname Day 🤣

I asked a woman if "Click" was a pet name for her son, and she looked at me oddly and said that, no, that was his whole first name. A little girl in my home town (parents' family friends) is called Pocahontas.

Oh good. A "let's laugh at people's names" thread. Hurrah!

@SoupDragon still easy to avoid any hurt by just not visiting the thread 🤷🏼‍♀️ It's an interesting topic to some and it's ridiculous to censor ourselves from having an interesting thread open to protect the feelings of people who are not being forced to be here.

I'll never understand the logic of someone too sensitive and feeble to see potentially harsh opinions of a name they like,,,, who then chooses to click on a thread like this. You're looking for something to be angry about why not just go about your business and not engage?!

I swear these ppl would stick their heads in a beehive and then complain about getting stung!

justalittlesnoel · 21/11/2023 19:28

@MolkosTeenageAngst if they're based near Manchester then potentially! 😂 we'd gone for a day trip to the big city and heard this - tbh it made my day!

DH and I have heard some unusual ones. Can't say the most unusual as outing but there was two lovely youngsters who were named after a type of wine. I've heard Hendrix, Duke, Precious.

SoupDragon · 21/11/2023 19:19

Socksforxmas · 21/11/2023 19:09

@SoupDragon 'unusual' doesn't always equal 'laughable'. It's just a name not widely used. The opposite of the Olivia's and Noah's.

I'd imagine that anyone sensitive to the opinions of others regarding a name they might like would simply not click on the thread. Can't really complain when you go looking for something to be upset about.

Sure... No one going to be laughing at all. 🙄

Honey-Blossom for a girl!

Not someone I know but someone I encountered in real life, calling their child in a shop. I was genuinely perplexed, although it made me really want some blossom honey 😂

I’m a teacher and I had a student whose sister was called Honey Blossom. I wonder if it was the same one or if there are a few of them out there!

BusySittingDown · 21/11/2023 19:11

Jamiroquai.

The little lad is probably a teenager now and I wouldn't be surprised if he shortens it to something like Jamie.
