Slightly piggy backing off another thread in this topic but just really curious about this.

Obviously we've all heard of some very unusual suggestions on this site and we can all think of a celeb that's opted for something very unique but in your day to day life what would you say is most unusual you've come across?

For me it'd probably be Maverick for a boy and Lavender-Lily for a girl.

OP posts:

There was a young woman contestant on Pointless a few years back called Truly Scrumptious. She was named after a character in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. She styled it out and was pretty cool. She said she was known as Truly.

Appleina. She was an elderly lady, it's common in the older generation here in Scotland for women to have 'Ina' at the end to feminise a name, Williamina, Georgina etc but that was a new one on me.
Mason - not unusual in itself but logic for it was because he's 'ma son'.
Solar and Astra (not related).

Some of these names are not even weird though. Names like Bliss, Precious, True are very common in some communities.

Yes some answers so simply reflect the diversity of one's surroundings. We have a Gift and a King at school, but the name isn't really that unusual within the context of our schools diversity.

I have a friend who's grandson is Zephyr. I think it's amazing. I love it. Definitely should have been on our list.

It's possible the names we did use would make this list tho 🤣

I knew twin girls one of which was called Jersey.
The other one had an unusual name but not quite as unusual.

I also know girls called Halo, Syrilla and Zeela.

I met a girl at college called Crystal Glass. She did get bullied over it in school. People called it a stripper name. She was named after one of her maternal grans. I'm guessing her parents thought it would be a bit of harmless fun to give her that name along with her dad's surname.

BarbaraVineFan · 21/11/2023 20:09

Also a boy with the surname Davidson, whom his parents had named...Harley
