Is Chez a real name

Morning all, I heard of the name Chez for the first name yesterday, I had never heard of it before. Is it a real name or is it a shorting of a name?

We had a Chez at school, pronounced like that not the French way and short for Francesca. I personally don’t find it the prettiest name about or the nicest shortening of Francesca or any other name, but that’s personal taste. It doesn’t help that the person in question wasn’t super nice to me!

Yes, our Chez at work, pronounced how it's written, is a Cheryl.

Chez was a nickname for Cheryl when I was at school. Like Shaz for Sharon.

Nope. That’s avec.

Chez is ‚at the home/place of‘ like chez Marie.

Chez is imagine is short for something else. In Point of fact though no names are ‚real‘ until people use it and in doing so it becomes real.
