Middle name for Ella

Hi,

We’re really set on the name Ella for our baby girl due very soon. We know it’s very popular but it’s our favourite name so we’re not put off at all by this.

However we’re stuck on a middle name. We would like to avoid middle names Grace, May & Rose - as we’re giving her a popular first name we don’t want to also give her one of the most popular middle names to go with it!

Any suggestions would be appreciated!
Thank you

I've an Ella Mary. It's a beautiful name, congratulations.

@EarthlyNightshade , I agree with @theduchessofspork .
Ella will probably always be Ella Surname, possibly Ella Middlename Surname.
Emma is much less wishy-washy than Ella

Would you actually say that to a mother of a child named Ella?

JustAnotherMNUserPassing · 19/11/2023 12:52

I always said if I had a child for a girl I'd go for Ella Celeste :)

No it isn’t.

It’s the name board. People can avoid if if they want

Of course it's rude. Describing a name as beige and suggesting she might want an alternative is rude.
If OP was asking "what do you think of Ella?" then fine, but she's already decided on it.

I know several Ellas and Ellies. Agree with a pp that it is bland and overused.
Pick a middle name with consonants that aren't L, and that doesn't start with a vowel.

e.g.
Ella Katherine
Emma Justine/Juliet
Ella Tamsin
Ella Victoria

not Ella Maeve/Mabel or Ella Lily

Workawayxx · 19/11/2023 09:15

I love Ella. I think it sounds good with 3-4 syllable names that don’t end in “a” like…
Ella Juliet
Ella Josephine
Ella clementine
Ella Cecily
Ella Harriet
Ella marianne

It’s supposedly popular but there weren’t any at my DS’s large primary and I only know one 11 year old Ella now he’s at secondary and one adult one. I think it’s beautiful.

ChickenBhunaandChips · 19/11/2023 09:13

OP: Not Rose/Grace/May.

Replies: How about Rose or May.

Hmm
Lilibert456 · 19/11/2023 09:09

Ella May or Ella Rose. Both are lovely.

It’s quite rude to say this when lots on this site would have an Ella!

Lots of people also have an Evie, Amelia, Olivia or an Ava. They’re also overused. So what?

My DC have popular names, I’m not offended when someone points this out.

Ella something unusual. If the first name is beige and overused you might as well give her an alternative.

Why don’t you honour a parent or grandparent and use their name? I thought that’s what middle names are for!

Parttimewoes · 19/11/2023 04:23

Ella Felicity immediately sprang to mind. I like it.

I am a bit of a fan of Dawn French and I think her name is lovely with Ella.
